Hey guys I'm planning to get a decent zoom lens for my Nikon D60 this summer. Since I'm just a begginer in photography and my budget are limited, I need some suggestion regarding the lens.

I came across two lenses, that fits my interest and budget. One is "Tamron 70-300 Di lens with macro" and another is "Nikon 55-200 VR AFS Dx zoom Nikor lens". I did my own quick reasearch and found out both of these lenses has their own pros and cons. I am not being able to just pick one. So guys based on your experience and knowledge please suggest me which kind of lens is really worth buying.  I would really appreciate your suggestions..

Depends on what kind of photography you are into. I don't go for zoom lenses these days tho, I have bought two lenses recently and both of them had been prime, juss suits my taste of photography.

Rockey
I'd personally prefer the Nikkor 55-200, because its a vibration reduction, i am not sure if D60 has image sharpening abilities but if it doesn't dont get it. But 55-200 itself is a good lens. Remember always buy lenses from big name companies-- like B&H or Adorama, lens from others could have been refurbished. Iused to own a Tamron 70-300, i hated it big time!

If your budget for a VR lens is about $650 or around, get a Sigma 2.8 DG Macro 70-200. Thats the best lens there is for that price, i own one and i love it, u can make some serious money by working with that lens! And u dont have to be a pro!

Good luck with the lens search, let me know if i can help!

What about the advantages of having Macro in the lens? Does it really makes a difference in taking close up picture? I found out that Tamron 70-300 Di has a macro lens but does the Nikon 55-200 VR also has a Macro in it?

Basically I'm interested in taking a potrait with a background blurred and a longshot picture of a birds and also I like to take a closeup picture of a small objects like insects, flower, etc. Is it possible to take these kinds of photograph with these two lences?

Nikon comparing with Tamron.lens?

Remember, Nikon lens are made of Glass. Yes, Glass. Even the Prof. Canon camera  lens are made of Plastic Glass.

When you buy Nikon camera or lens, buy only Made in Japan.
In US, you can find Made in Malaysia, or Thailand, also made by Nikon. Suppose to be cheap, but the seller charge the same amount.
