Hi Friends,

If you are flying USA on H1B visa just make sure that you have approval letter from Ministry of Labor. Otherwise immigration people will stop you and ask money to let you go. They ask me Rs.12, 000 but luckily I found the known police person and they allow me to go. These Nepal people in airport are really bad. I requested so many people even their boss but they didn't allow me to go without paying money and my plane was about to depart. So please beware and get letter from Ministry of Labor.

Thanks

Suman Joshi

Actually, the law of Nepal requires anyone leaving Nepal via immigration channel for overseas employment (H1B included) to produce documents from Shram Bivag, a life insurance and etc etc. But none of the concerned authorities have made any attempt to make it public to re-departing Nepalis esp from US UK etc.

Situation like Suman's leads to another complication in the future: what if you bribed your way out the first time and if you come back to Nepal for Dashain (which now you can afford to do with H1B, etc.), and are leaving Nepal after a brief stay? Do they try to do you for not having that letter from Shram Bivag at your initial departure? Can you still get that letter at this point? Does anyone have any experience on this? Please share.

_x
