Are Bahun Chettris Greek descendent? Very unlikely. But one might get confused by similar caucosoid features, which by the way, is shared by many nationalities from Afghans to Uzbeks, to go alphabetically. Read Jarod Diamond's book "Guns, Germs and Steel" for more information on this. With recent upsurge of Greek popularity due to Olympic Games and Hollywood movies like Troy and Alexander, it is natural for some of our brethrens to wish to consider ourselves Greek descendent. But, as Bhattu mentioned, that is merely a wishful thinking. Now about "Najayej" part, there were lot of cross breeding going on. But I think, more so, with musalmans (mughals) than with other race in Northern India. So one may consider Bahun Chettris to be najayej descendents of musalmans' raping and pillaging. Those who escaped to the hills of Nepal, cross-bred with Hill communities (mongolians). So, for Nepali Bahun Chettris, they are more the product of Indian/Hill stock. Hoina ra?

Bahun/Chettri stock represent the Aryans that came to the live in the fertile land of northwestern parts of India after leaving Central Asia where the climate was harsh and food scarce. After acclimatizing and cross-breeding with the local populace, they, too, started looking like the local inhabitants having darker complexion. Some Aryans moved westward into Europe and assimilated nicely there as well. That's why a whole language superfamily is called Indo-European which encompasses almost half of the languages spoken around the world today.

More likely PUNJABIs, AFGANIs have bloods of GREEKS and of myriad of other conquesters and marauders of different races. Look at Raj Kapoor's family: most of them are very fair and blue-eyed.

I am not an expert in this field and request other posters to do some research before making any absurd claims, that too in condescending tone, on such a sensitive topic. Whatever the origin is the only thing obvious is that we have influences from Aryans and Mongolians. Greek definately have quite an influence on our civilization, as evidenced by the skin color, hair and the religious aspect of having multiple gods. The fact that we have a God for almost everything, the way only other major religion-Greek has, is a point that cannot be neglected.

"Read Jarod Diamond's book "Guns, Germs and Steel" for more information on this" Jared Diamond is one of those people used by hbd deniers to boost their claim. One of his journals about a decade ago was comparison of testicle size between Asians and Caucasians, with Africans thrown in for kicks. So, he obviously believes that people are different. Yet now, he is one of those people who espouse that races don't exist. Looks like he goes wherever the wind sails. There is obviously something different about bahuns/chettris of Nepal. First of course is that we are fairer skinned than our brethren from the South. Second, we in fact also look more caucasoid than Indians. Some have tried to link us to Maharastra or Benares, but I have a feeling we are of the same race as the Kashmiris. The Khasas supposedly were found in areas between Southern Kashmir and Western Nepal. Now the aryans were these groups who occupied the North-Western section of India. I don't think we are linked to Punjabis much. Hindu polytheism doesn't have much to do with Greek polytheism. Certainly, some links are there, I cannot deny that. Before monotheism got all hip and cool, virtually everybody on the planet was polytheistic.

Greek definately have quite an influence on our civilization, as evidenced by the skin color, hair and the religious aspect of having multiple gods. The fact that we have a God for almost everything, the way only other major religion-Greek has, is a point that cannot be neglected. Also, The Greek invasion of India resulted in the development of the Gandhara school of art. The gods started to look more muscular and long haired. However, later this school of art was discarded because the Indians, like their Chinese counterparts rejected warrior culture and focused on spiritual enlightenmnet. Regarding, the Indians being influenced by the Greek religion, there's a lot of dispute. Yeah, gods are similar and indetical: Hercules- Bhimsen, Aphrodite- Rati, Athena - Sarswati and Hades- Yamaraj. There's a lot of controvery regarding this. Whether its a diffusion or parralelism, no one has been able to tell yet. Amazing stuff!

Moneyminded Bro, My DNA results are out. It turned out to be that I have 30% blood of CHENGEZ KHAN (that guy kya who sired 10,000 bacchas), 10% blood of AKBAR (AKBAR OF BIRBAL FAME, SO I have ALSO THE blood of TIMUR THE LANGADA), 30% of my BAHUN AND CHETRI FOREFATHERS, and 25% from my BHAKTAPURE NEWAR GRANDMOTHER's side. The remaining 5% turned out to be GREEK. So, its proven beyond doubt that we CHETRIS from NEPAL have GREEK-BLOOD INDEED. The DNA was transcribed, translated and transferred from one generation to another- after 100s of generation of mixing, still 5% of DNA matches with the greeks. JAYAJLI YA NAJAYAJLI -the DNA test didn't confirm, however. Also doesn't our DNA match more thant 99% with the Chimps? .. \/ ^

Guys, It doesn't matter what percentage of your body is derived from which race. I read in a local paper here in MD some time ago that said if we trace our gene root to 200 generation, everyone in the world is related to everyone else. So, don't waste you time finding out if you are descended from Greek or Freak.
