Hey I have a question, can anyone solve it....

A census taker approaches a house and asks the woman who answers the door,"How many children do you have, and what are their ages?"
Woman: "I have three children, the product of their ages are 36, the sum of their ages are equal to the address of the house next door."

The census taker walks next door, comes back and says, "I need more information."

The woman replies, "I have to go, my oldest child is sleeping upstairs."

Census taker: "Thank you, I now have everything I need."

What are the ages of each of the three children?

Sorry Bhinazu,
You are off by 56.54%. It does not look as simple as the way you do it. Have to think little more.
About the question you asked earlier, I thought that
Conditions: If a girl is in the different side that of her BF, she will be kissed by the other boys even if they are with their GFs.
meant that the guys cannot kiss the ladies if they are to go at the very same moment. Let me put you in more mathematical term: what I meant was at the instant when Bb get off the boat, a takes on the boat. So that the guy would not be able to kiss the lady. 

Anyway, if you really think that there is some other secured way, I can?t think on top of my head right now. Will post it later, if I come up with a better answer.

No problem, confused.

Guys, Read the damn question carefully. IT SAYS THE PRODUCT WOULD BE 36. AND ALSO THE WOMEN SAID MY "OLDEST" CHILD IS SLEEPING UPSTAIRS.
LONELYinTMIDWEST, your answer for 3,3,4 CANNOT add up to 13. THE ANSWER I GAVE IT TO YOU GUYS IS THE ONLY RIGHT ANSWER. There is no flaw in the question.
:-)

Yes,
The next door number must be 13 which has 2 solutions, otherwise there will not be confusion for him.
6,6,1
9,2,2

From the key word "Oldest Child" it becomes clear: 9,2,2

Question:
In Dashain Mangale bought 20 Khasis.
He must cut the odd number of Khasis per day.
He finished them within 7 days between Fulpati to Purnima.
How was it possible?

Confused Bro,
Yes U R Dumbed.

1.The census checked the next door. Agree?

2.
36*1*1 (sum=38)
18*2*1 (sum=21)
9*4*1 (sum=14)
9*2*2 (sum=13)
6*6*1 (sum=13)
6*3*2 (sum=11)
4*3*3 (sum=10)
Agree?

3. If the sum(=address of next door) was 11 or 21 or 10 or 14 or 38, he doesn't have to be confused. But it must be 13 so that it made him confusion because the sum becomes 13 in 2 different caes as mentioned in 2.

4. Got it?

Explorer is absolutely right.

Confused,
I think you need to take a cool shower and read the question again. Exploer, D sharma, and Dada giri have explained it clearly--good enough to understand for any lay man, I think.

explorer bro, u r correct. yep other probabilities are also there but the main thing is the census taker was confused and hence he asked the lady for other hint. if it were house nr. 11 or whatever, the census taker would have figured out it quite easily and he would not have asked the lady for second hint. since he was confused either the lady has a pair of twins of six years and one child of 1 year or she has one child aged 9 years and one pair of twins aged 2 years. when the lady told him that her eldest child is sleeping, he was sure that she has no twins aged 6 years rather she has an eldest child and hence had solved the problem. good job dude...

15+1+1+1+0+1+1=20(One day there is Ekadashi so he do not kill the Khasi.)

aah balla bujhe, hawaguji, narishau na bro, nabujhe pachi k garne ta ..dada timi chai geda khau hai :)

ooh ok, the main point i was missing out here was, The census guy knows the number of the next house, even though we certainly dont, so if the problem had not had two answers that resulted 13, it could have has several answers, but it has 2 answers that has the same answer, and that is how census guy is lost, because of those 2 answers.. :)

thax peeps :)

la mero pali abu, its a physics problem..

i was listening to my jagjit singh CD and crusing at 10 mph hagi, then i had to suddenly stop at the stop sign. On the very moment when i stopped at the stop sign, a piece of pebble got wedged on my tire. now the same piece of pebble will role with the tire and its position will vary from the paved road. The tire is about 24.9 inches, now what will be the distance of the piece of pebble from the paved road when i have went about 200 inches?

In a bitch,
There are 13 girls with blue paints, 7 with pink paints and 2 with no paints, 1 with black paint.
Among them, 3 girls are with no shirts, 7 with pink shirts and 13 with blue shirts.

Were there some girls naked? How many did you see?

Dsharma put is clearly. The answer is 9, 2, 2 instead of 6, 6, 1.

To elaborate further:

Check the grammar.

The lady answered "the oldest child". Nine (9) is the oldest among 9 , 2, 2.

But in a group of children 6, 6, 2, six (6) cannot be referred to as "the oldest". There are 2 kids of age 6. In that case, 6 becomes only "older". Or lese, the mother would have answered "One of the older children is sleeping".

GOT it???

36*1*1 (sum=38)
18*2*1 (sum=21)
9*4*1 (sum=14)
9*2*2 (sum=13)
6*6*1 (sum=13)
6*3*2 (sum=11)
4*3*3 (sum=10)

If these are the possibilities then how can 9,2,2 be the answer.. first we will have to know the neighbor's house no. hoina ra?

rythm, i was also confused..

ok lets consider 4,3,3 ta answer hoi ta, so the house number becomes 10 hoina, now there seems to be only one solution of 10, so hence, the census guy isnt confused..so 4,3,3 is the answer..TARA, in the question it says census guy was confused, so for the census guy to be confused there had to be something wrong with the house number hoina ta...tesaile that house number is 13, kina bhane it is the only number that has 2 answers and hence got our census guy confused...so he came back for more hint...

now if you still dont get it, read the question and read this again, u will certainly get it :)

BTW, no one has solution for my problem?? is it too easy for you all?? ki k ho??

hey confused bro, timro question ko answer 5.9 inches ho?

my explanation,

since the tyre is 24.9 cms (it should be the circumference of the tyre, right..), the peeble will make a complete round every 24.9 inches when it will be on the road ie, the distance between the peeble and the road will be zero and every 12.45 cms.(half the circumference), the peeble will be farthest from the road... 12.45 cms. since u have travelled 200 cms after the peeble stuck to the tyre, in this due course your tyre has made 9 complete turns and 5.9 cms of the tenth turn, taking peeble as the reference. This means the peeble is about 5.9 cms from the ground.

lu ab mero prashna...
A standard male dragonfly weighing 0.0009 mlbs lands atop a pond in Cumbria. The surface tension of the Cumbrian pond water is 92 Fl Oz per square inch, with a ripple rate of approx. 30 mgz/Ht. Its mate, weighing 0.0012 mlbs, (female dragonflies are biologically heavier) is flying overhead looking for food, when she suddenly spots her mate below. Wishing to communicate with him (dragonflies communicate via their tendons), she flies down and joins him. With the additional load on the water surface, can you calculate the depth of the pond?
