Hi guys: I tried to create my own ringtones. This is what I did 1. Edited the portion of song I wanted to 10-20 sec piece. 2. Converted it to midi format. 3. Sent it to phone. The problem: Still the size of the midi is too big and phone can not play it. (Around 250 KB where are the regular ringtones are 5-10 KB) Questions: 1. Is the file simply being in midi format is enough to use it as ring tone? 2. How to compress the size of file to bring it down to around 10 KB? Thanks.

Jelly beans: After you download the tunes to you PC, there are 2 ways: 1. Either you can email it to your phone. You need internet service for that. ($) 2. Use Bluetooth or similar service. (Free and my preferred way, but you need bluetooth/infrared/or other similar technology enabled phone. Still, my vital question is how do you compress midi files to 10 kb size, Nepali Hunk, probably you can help.

Here is how I created the MIDI files... - I used Fruity Loops software to create MIDI tracks and exported it as a MIDI file. - I don't think you can create MIDI files from the original songs (mp3).. - The MIDI file is usually around 2KB - 15 KB.. Barude

Nepali Hunk: Thanks for the info. You CAN actually create midi from mp3 and others but since we are talking about cellphones, file size was the problem. Let me see if I can get my hands on Fruity Loops software. Keep us updated.
