Folks,
I'm going home this winter for the first time in like 3 years...and I plan on doing something that average Nepalese don't ( like trekking, hiking etc. ).
Any suggestions on places to visit, things to do...while in Kathmandu, nearby places or around Nepal?

How insane is it asking for what to do back home where you lived one quarter/ half of your life. You've only been here for 3 years and you think your smarter than everyone else. What is the freaking point your trying to make here?
Don;t be an a$$ dude. An average Nepali does hike and trek every day, ever been to one of the villages in Nepal?

Oh really?, I always thought Average Nepali always either Trekked or Hiked!! How many days have you decided for Trekking? Many Routes around Kathmandu and Surrounding for Hiking too!!
I did few Hiking with these folks http://www.everestuncensored.org/category/hiking/ you might get good idea regarding trails and Journey!!

We have been seen many travel plans over and over make us feel is it a mere advertisement or excitement as the gentleman wanted to go to sasurali after a long time and ended screwing it with too many suggestions.

Here we go, typical Nepali mindset is evident yet again. Tyo huncha ni, euta Nepali le arko Nepali le gadi chadeko dekhyo bhane, he's trying to show off bhanne.
I'm appalled by the responses in General. I was 19 when I came here and back then, I took activities like hiking, Trekking, rafting, Bungee Jumping, Mountain flights for granted and completely overlooked.
Some smartasses have cleverly pointed out how an average Nepali treks and hikes all the time. But there's a difference between hiking and trekking due to lack of transportation and doing the same for recreation, don't you think? The last time I checked, an average Nepali was making less than a buck a day. What he made didn't even suffice to feed his family, let alone afford to buy a North Face Jacket. Surely, an average Nepali hasn't made such a huge progress in 3 years - if we did then that's news to me.
Black_Panther, I was highly interested in trekking on that route but based on the videos of the airport, I guess I'll skip man.
Bhojpure, I've been outside the valley only a few times and I plan to extensively tour around the country ( not far-west ) and eastern India , Delhi, Shimla and nearby places. Never been to India though so I don't really know...
Again, to reiterate, I'm not acting "over smart" and this isn't an act of showing off. I wish to explore my country better this time around. If you've got nothing wise to say, could you keep your pie hole shut instead of spouting jibberish nonsense? Find an average "torpe" Nepali to amuse yourself.

Its just the matter of fact that you asked the question exactly like a "foreigner"?
The first sentence was unnecessary. Just provided a needless reason to argue. What does an Average Nepali stands for? Aren't you one of those? Also, you think you have grown up more in your "3 years" in US compared to your 19 years in Nepal? There was really a " no need" to stress your 3 years in US as a learning curve for you to realize that you just overlooked the beauty Nepal possesses. I did too and so did everyone else. Its a general fact.
Tip of the day: Try your best to reword the sentences before you post if you want to avoid sarcastic/ bully comments.

@bidroh:: chill dude, these hypocrites can upto any limits to criticize u so u better go home safely and hire a guide, they are way more polite n have a lot better idea than anyone who criticized u above... And yes u learn way more in 1 year in america than what you have learned in 19 years in Nepal because maturity comes with experience, exposure and tough situation.... Peace

Its not surely me who is being a hypocrite here. Hope you wont be asking for a direction to your own home after you land at TIA.
And, i just think you are only underestimating the amount of knowledge that have gained back home. Stress and Experience does bring one's maturity to a whole different level, but its not entirely correct to say that you learned more in US in a year compared to your 19 years in Nepal. Culture, Language and Nepalese values surely cannot beat the US Driver's License or using a Vending Machine or even earning your own living. As a matter of fact 90% of the English was taught to you back home and yet you still think you gained nothing from Nepal?
Give me a break for God's sake!

Say i don't mind suggesting people if i can in a "constructive" way. But, its just that sometimes people tend to modify their needs in such a way that its just hard to digest.
Wish the question was as simple as " I am going back to Nepal in a few days. Is there anything you guys can suggest to do back home?"
There was no need of coining the term "Average Nepali". Thats what offended me.

For me learning is not just reading, it's about implementing and I cannot even restrist learning into books and neither an operation of vending machine. Its not possible to mention all the stuffs we have learned here in US, but no matter how much it is, there is no comparison of what we have learned back home. That was the point i was trying to make.
Lets not underestimate our Homecountry. It has given us what it possible could. You cannot really blame your parents if your born in a poor household, can you?

Why on earth you feel offended with the word "average nepali"? It was never meant for you. Typical Nepali mindset. And this was just a question with good intentions seeking for some good suggestions.
Let me tell you, not everyone is like you. Atleast for me, when i used to be back home, i only fantasized doing things like trekking to the himalayas, bungee jumping, visiting strip clubs etc during my early college years. There are many different reasons to why they all remained as fantasies. But now if i'm going back home, i would definitely want to fulfill some of my prior fantasies. Also, if somebody asks for some new suggestions for fun in and around Kathmandu i do not see anything wrong with that.
DK dude, what do you mean by ever been to those villages in Nepal? You very well know the difference between trekking/hiking and someones routine activities. You suck here!!!!
