Bittertruth, I am a computational biologist (primarily involved in statistical modeling). Now I want to learn some algorithms and programming...You can call me a novice computer science student.

Implementing an algorithm in a program isn't difficult.
What kind of help do you need ? Have you done any programming before ? If not, I'd suggest you to implement simpler algorithms first, like say, sorting, BFS,DFS etc.
