Saroj Acharya is definitely extremely brilliant. Just a minor correction: Saroj Acharya stood second in ISc in 1987. I forgot the name of the topper then, he was from Birgunj, if I'm not mistaken.

Overall, the morning shows the day in general. But not always.There are a lot of stories about many brilliant folks not doing well in school. It's very important to understand how the SLC/ISc toppers got the scores they did. Many many folks who had third divisions have done a lot of good to Nepal than those toppers. Don not take it hard, guys, I consider most, not all, of the toppers as bookish. I consider myself bookish; my performance is largely based on homework rather than some internal enlightenment. While knowledge is power and books are the primary source of knowledge, just parrot knowledge is not enough to be the one that stands out clearly in your life time. And just being a doctor, engineer or rocket scientist does not mean you are the best. It certainly means you know how to learn to reproduce you have learnt.

Your success in life is measured by how well the analyst sees you to be doing, also. For some being a doctor is the ultimate. For some others, being able to cure something nobody has cured is the best. For others, just to hold the title of Dr. is the ultimate. For some others, just to be able line up patients in front of your clinic is everything.

As a system engineer designing hardware and s/w is the ultimate for me:-) Mind you it may not work, may not sell and of all, may not be liked. I will be glad if I'm a "lato deshma Gandh tanneri !" Of course not that I don't aspire like Mahakavi Laxmi Prasad "Udhyashya ke linu? Udi chhunu chandra Ek" but that Chandra is beyond my capacity.
