gulf air isn't totally bad..it's alright...i flew with gulf air to several times..once we had to wait 12 hrs at frankfort 'coz they were getting the parts for the plane from switzerland..but we had good service...and yeah behrain to ktm is like riding on a local bus..it was fun though...i would say 5.5/10 ...

If you dont have too long transit especially more than 12 hours in Bahrain then you will be fine through gulf air. But if you have more than 12 hours of transit on Bahrain then you will get some tough time in Bahrain and your luggage will arrive in after 1 days only. Best of luck.

if u can, change the flight. i flew twice with them. first experience was heavenly but the second one changed my first impression completely. two of my friends were stranded at Bahrain's airport for 17 hrs while they were promised a hotel that they never got. and i had to argue with the stewardesses for services. and they treat nepalese like crap flying from Bahrain to ktm and vice-versa. when i got back, i complined gulf air HQ - that made a difference - i dunno.

i would urge every nepalese to avoid this airline company where ur brothers/sisters are mistreated.

eklonepali,

man, i don't want to disaponit you but i had bad bad expereince with Gulf air ever. We went to Nepal last year and it was good when we go but when we fly back from Nepal to USA, it was horrible. They cancelled the flight 4 times in Kathmandu and finally they took us to HOTEL after cancelled the flight and they took us back to airport at 4am saying that the flight time was 6am then they said 7am and finally we flew at 8am from KTM to Bahrain but we missed the flight from Bahrain to Frankfurt and they took us to HOTEL again. But we had to chance to see Bahrain and some nice places there then we came to Frankfurt and we missed our flight there because we were 24 hrs late for our actual flight. The employees at American Airlines in Frakfurt were so rude and they did't give us boring pass untill all the passenger loaded. then we had chance to seat on very last rows and it was so aweful trip to Nepal. Anyway Good Luck

Do you think that Muslim race as a whole has the concept of Customer Service? Really?
You got to be out of your mind. First they have to built a civilized society to understand the basic of CS. If they didn't have OIL, they would be still grazing cattle like the Bedouin. Avoid anything that has to do with Muslim. Stop complaining if you do it deliberately.

Sounds really bad if you go by the experiences mentioned here.
Not sure why every Travel agency I contact they end up suggesting the same route.
Looks like I am screwed !!!!

c77okie,
thanks for sharing your experince.
I got the exact same mail when I complained about my experience.
Even Gulf Air agents in Nepal agree how poorly Gulf air employees treat Nepalese and flights coming in and going out from KTM.

Their customer service sucks! (I don't think they have a word "CUSTOMER SERVICE" on their dictionary).

little blurb from their response.

" Bahrain to Kathmandu suffered a delay, due to extended maintenance of the scheduled aircraft. We are committed to provide our passengers with the highest level of customer service at all times. I apologise, that, due to reasons beyond Gulf Air’s control, unfortunate delays occur, causing our passengers dissatisfaction with our service. We realise the importance of operating according to schedule, therefore, on-time performance is high on our agenda. Incidentally, our on-time departures are comparable to most international airlines.  "
== Will they ever admit its their fault?  I hear they always give this same response to everyone about the delays.

I met some Nepalese at Bahrain airport, if you hear their experience, you would never ever want to fly gulf or recommend it to anyone.

you would think that they would right?
They do provide it if its already known its over 8 hrs but if its over 8 hrs due to delay they would not.
i.e. say ur layover is only 6 hrs first then they delay it by  2 hrs later, they hesitate to provide any accommodation then. I have gone through it myself and few other friends who had similar experience.
Conclusion: "AVOID GULF AIR"
