I always find Sajha a great place to intentially make MOCKERY of someone else's views.

Sajha is always has been a great place to start some UUT-PAAT-YAANG guffs. It's a great place to make sinnical remarks on someone else's views.

It's a great place to intentionally arouse disgust among readers.

It's a great place to stage a revolt against the tradition of "conformity" of Nepalese way of thinking.

It's a great place to act DUMB and also a great place to act like a genius and intelligent.

It's a great place to fool someone and get fooled by someone.

Among many reasons, to do UUT-PAAT-YAANG guffs is my strongest motive to visit SAJHA.com.

Khaobadi. Dark humor that's what I like and mocking is the best part. I guess In this world there are two kinds of people, one who picks on people and the other one who gets picked on. You definitely seem to know what online forums are all about. After all you've been spending so much time on Sajha. Keep it up bro.

Thapap. You are absolutely right. I don't what's up with these threads these days. Everybody blames US for all stupid things that happen in their life. Vehicle accidents they blame the US, drug problem they blame the US. Somebody doesn't get a good GPA, they blame it on US. God knows what else. Whining and whining. What's up with kids these days. Yeah life is tough, but it's never been easy. Being results oriented is good but without wanting to put any effort, that's crap.

Stop bitching you all and work harder. Nothing comes easy. Especially if you were born and raised in a poor country like Nepal. You are fortunate enough to be able to come to the US. Appreciate that. What if you were stuck in Nepal with Maobadis and Armies putting a gun in your ass? Think about it and stop whining.

Ya Congratulation on your Vicotry Fountaindew. however, i don't think Nepali students are whining. It is CRYING OUT LOUD i think.

How is one supposed to work hard , when they don't have work permit?

How is one supposed to be studious and focused when they have to go through thier expenses of being in the school and pay 3 or 4 times higher so naturalized perks and dumb fat biotchhh sitting next to them can party and buy new car with his financial aid ( by mainintaining 2.2 gpa)

I don't know about others, but i'm not whining, I think most people are trying to aware youngesters about the realistic situation of Students under F1 visa to go through undergrad program in the USA. If a fellow Nepali warns his fellow brother or sister back home why you naturalized so- called hardworkers got problems with that?

I guess no body is blaming usa, people are just trying to be informative and give good suggestion. Why do you guys want to shut us up on that?

Putting effort and hard working, huh, give that suggestion to someone else.. Nepali students work much harder and put much more effort than your expectation.

my take is, if you really want to advise your brothers and sisters back home, tell them to study hard, get good grades, good SAT scores, and get them to think about writing compelling essays that will make the admissions officer cry and go "look maurine, this poor nepali boy (if you are a sherpa, that helps. better if you are a nepali girl) worked 40 hrs a week fighting women trafficking while maintainign an A average." that way, you can get into a good school with ample financial aid and focus on your education and future...yeah, tell your siblings to study hard rather than hang around thamel and himalayan java checking out the latest fashion trends and gossipping about whos' going out with who, or hanging around trying to prove their manhoods by getting into gang fights...the younger you get them to understand this, the better it is.....tell them that the lazyness is accruing interest right now, and that they will have to pay it when they come to the US...not everyone is super bright...but everyone can be hardworking...it is a OK to be lazy...but it is not cool to be lazy and complain....so tell your siblings this..

and another thing...it's important to work "smart", rather than simply working hard . no point spending your time and enger on something that will not bear the fruit that you really want...

Usgals,
"Many people many minds” It depend from people to people. I have seen some entrepreneur Nepalese guys and girls are doing better in US. USA is land of opportunity for those who has patience in their butt….They did not become successful overnight…They spent sometime to know about USA and earn some money and invest money eventual they are doing better….To your knowledge, if you work for other everyday, you might wasting your time here….my advice you to work for certain time and acquire knowledge and try to invest some money in business…USA is country with business opportunity…..

Here is clue…..
Example working other is air-thematic proportion
Business is geometrical proportion

Dyamn bro,
I don't know why you take these things personally? I'm not being personal to you..Trust me bro, I've been in that situation before. I've worked 30 hrs/wk during school days to make things happen. Used to work 18 hrs per day during the summers. I don't think your situation would be any different will it? My advice to you, don't look at other people. Don't think of what others can do for you but what you can do for other people. I fully sympathize with hardworking Nepali people but I've seen most Nepali people to be not Proactive. And I agree with Zalim Singh although the name sounds scary. He's a good guy and you should listen to his advice...it's important to work "smart", rather than simply working hard. Be proactive. Make the right decisions. Think of the future ahead of time. Working 40 hrs at the gas station won't cut it.You gotta demonstrate equal competence in studies.

Spend less time in Sajha and more time with your books!! Good luck kid.

"...not everyone is super bright...but everyone can be hardworking.."

Truely said ZalimSing. Bright can be a person by being a hardworker, if not born super bright.

Guys who complain about there life being horrible in US. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. Everybody knows that US is land of opportunity, but that doesn’t necessarily means that opportunity falls on your lap automatically. You have to work very hard for it, either studying and getting hell many degrees or just working your arse off and moving up the company.

Stop whining about working so many hours and not having life. When you came to US in student visa or any other visa (besides H1), you said to yourself, your family and US counselor that you are going to study and get your degree or in other case work your arse off and send money back home. You yourself enrolled in expensive colleges to get a visa. You promised US government that you are going to pay for colleges here no matter what, and next thing you know after working so many hours just to pay college fee you start complaining. When anybody goes to India/Singapore or China nobody complains, just cuz parents are paying. Now it is all into you and here you go all of them start complaining of how hard and long hours they have to work.

Common guys, atleast you are able to work and pay fee or in some case send home money. In every case it is illegal to even work but we are able to work make some decent money and do good things for oneself.

Illegally arkako desh ma kaam ni garnu cha, dollars pani kamauna cha, degree pani lina cha and complain pani garnu cha..Yo tha bayena ni. Besides degree pani nabaye kana kina tetro asha bhanya. Ani degree baye ni derai opportunity huna legal huna parena bhany (why would company want to hire a person who has 1 year OPT and not other legal person-you have to be good right-so be one first). Hamro desh ma tetro barsha samma baseka Bhutani sarnarthi le kaam garna paudaina cuz they are illegal -- what are you expectations????

Hi Fellow Nepalis,

It is really amazing to read so many comments about the so called topic "NO LIFE IN USA". It is time for a bit of reflection. How true is your statement? For most people this has been the land of opportunity. Why because they go looking for it. It is not going to come looking for you.

For instance Nepalese students or PR holders (thanks to DV lottery) complain about having to work too hard to pay for their tuition as well as accommodations. Hasn’t everyone in this country been doing that? What were all the Hollywood movie watching sessions for? Weren’t you aware of the fact that people need to live their own life and make their own living until they have a stable career. For “crying out loud” it is all shown in the fiction movies of Hollywood as well as many books and so forth. Don’t complain that you weren’t aware of this sort of life when you were in Nepal. If an American born in this country from parents who are not from Nepal can make a life out of this why can’t Nepalese trying to be legal or are legal in United States of America can’t. All you have to do is a bit sacrifice from your side. Give up all those parties, sports cars and bar attending ceremonies. It is of no good. All they are good for is for you to have a thousand dollar debt in your credit card. If you didn’t have social life or were restricted of social life in Nepal why do you have to have it here? I’m not telling everyone not to have social life but limit it to one or two a year or even limit it to once you become successful. There are successful Nepali Americans here. They didn’t become successful easily. They did it by hard work, dedication and commitment and now they can walk shoulder to shoulder with every American in terms of success. Haven’t you guys heard about or seen the Bums in subway stations of New York or social homes. Why are they bums? Because even thought they were born in America they did nothing but chill in their good days. Now they have no job, no hope and no life. So, live in America like a successful American to become a successful Nepali American not like the bum at the street begging which will only give you an ultimate ticket back home to Nepal. Everyone came here with a dream, remember it and live it so that one day you can tell your grandchildren about your journey from Nepal to America (a successful one).

Ciao,

From_Nepal2America

Note: You are lucky enuogh that you are in this country make yourself more fortunate by making your stay here fruitful.

FountainDew, I don't know why you assumed that i'm working full time in a gasstation, struggling with studies and working 18 hours a day. I'm not doing any of that. Also, I was lucky enough that I did not have to do any of those when I was in college. However, I feel sorry for younge brothers like you who had to work 18 hours a day in the summer( Illegal too, wasn't it?) Why? why did you not come in masters like most Indians in my department did and received Teaching and research assistanceship? When you were busting your balls working 18 hours a day( chu chu chu) they were visiting home and having fun taking tours with their money saved from thier assistanship.

Yes, you're right. We need to be proactive. And we need to think smart like Zalim Singh said. That is exactlywhat i've been saying. But you and other pumpus self proclaimed ,successful- hardworking - proactive Nepalis, do not see my point although I repeated it several times in this thread and in other threads .
I am not saying don't come to USA foo. I am saying come here for masters where funds are available most of the time. I am saying come here prepaired loco. Doesn't that mean be "proactive" ?
I am saying come here with enough research done in advance. Also, come here with good resource , whether it is fund, scholorship or personal finance. That is what I am trying to say. And don't know why you hard working, proactive Nepali who also worked 18 hours a day and worked in a gas station to go through school would not like to give out some realistic outlook of life here as an F1 undergrads to the dying to come here Nepali students. It is funny in way that i have to come and explain my simple point to such educated US graduates.
Is awaring someone a crime? or are you guys so touched because your reputation of being successful among far living Nepalis is hurt by thread like this which potrayas real situation in the USA?
Maybe people are trying to go Nepal and get married or and don't want anything bad about USA to be brought up.. hmmmmmmmmm

Well good luck brothers.. and peace and love
