THE ROYAL TREK
Named after the trail walked by the Prince of Wales, the trek is ideal for people with little time but want to see both Nepalese village life and the mountains.

Day 1.Pokhara - Kalikasthan Upon leaving the road a broad trail starts in rice fields near the Army camp, then ascends through Rakhigaun to a resting place under a large pipal tree. The trail climbs gently along a ridge top through Brahman, and Chhetri and gurung villages towards Kalikastan at 1370m. The children along this part of the trail are particulary persistant about asking for pens etc.The night campsite is located on a ridge top with excellent mountain views, including Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail ) and Annapurna.

Day 2. Kalikastan - Shyaklung After a good breakfast the trail follows along the forest ridge top through Thulokot to Mathi Thana, where there are a few tea shops. There is a short climb, then the trek reaches Naudanda. Continue along the ridge to a school at Lipini village, then make a steep but short climb through forests to the Gurung village of Shyaklung at 1730m campsite.

Day 3. Shyaklung - Chisopani The Himalayan skyline continues to change as the route comes abreast of Annpurna II, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu and Himalchuli. From Shyaklung, the trail drops steeply down the south side of the hill to a large tree, a chautaara (resting Place) several tea shops and a police post. This is a trail junction. The Roylal Trek route climbs towards Chisopani, winding around the back of the hill to a village.A short distance above Chisapani is a high knoll where there is a small temple. This is Chisopani Danda (danda means ridge top), and this the campsite with splendid mountain views.

Day 4. Chispani - Begnas Tal From Chispani Danda, descend along the ridge for one hour or so, then descend steeply on the stone steps, into a small valley and a stream thst feeds Rupa Tal. Continue for a short distance through the rice fields, then make a final ascent to the ridge that seperates Begnas Tal and Rupa Tal, on a wide path that you will share with many local people. From the ridge, descend into Pokhara valley, joining the road and the crowded Begnas Bazaar. This is the end of the trek , a short bus journey takes you back to Pokhara.
