I don't know why people have to brag about past which has nothing to do with them. Like my grandfather was this and my grandfather was that.
Yeah my great great grandfather used to be a king. But, it doesnot mean anything. All it matters is what you did and what you have currently.
This thread is like a fight between a redneck who says this is my country, my forefathers built this country and african american who is asking special treatment, my people were subjected to slavery.
Quit crying biyatches and move on. One thing is sure of past, that forefathers were monkeys and guys r displaying perfect example.
Like they say in nepali " monkey talent, ball damage!"

 @Nalapani

Please accept my apology for personally attacking you and your community and questioning the "martialness" of your people at the very beginning.I did that on purpose.It was to start a debate,not to instigate any hatred.

I have always keenly followed and a big fan of your take on the history of the khas people.

You come across as someone who is very proud and knows a lot about pre-hindu khas and khasan.Did a cultural genocide happen upon the khas people?Are khas people victim too?

If you know the answer to this question,than there lies my grievance.Why are you so against the proposed federal structure of Nepal?

Your take on"Identity based federalism" is the only reason why i came after you and questioned about your people.From someone like you  who knows history,it took me by surprise.Hence the attack.I don't converse with propoganda machines like dharke.As someone i do have respect for,i want your take on this matter,

@Nalapani

Damn.As i was typing,you  already have a new post..

As for me,i am all for khasan.I stand in solidarity with my khas and non khas people of the Karnali region who have been historically     marginalised by the capital.

@Ojaswi

In a nation where half the population defecate out in the open,where health care and education is a privilege and last name plays an important role in a "lot" of things......these discussion matters.

@ Daaku
To tell the truth...yes we are the greatest cultural victim. Khas people were not hindu untill mid of the 15th century. Khas malla kings used to be buddhist and khas people used to worship Masto (their shamanistic god which we still do in kulpuja) and buddha. When great khas empire crumbled into 22 si in karnali/ bheri and 24si in gandak people started changing their religion. Synergy of that affected magars and gurungs too. From khas few became bahun, majority of them became Chhetri and few became dalit and thakuri. But past is past and I love and feel proud of what I am now. I am a Nepali first only after that I am a khas. We can correct our frailty without converting nepal again into baisi-chaubisi.

@ Ojaswi Rana
Where in the earth you saw fight here? It's discussion dear. I, nowhere, have bragged like my father was tht. grandpa was that. If I've point me there, I will beg for your amnesty. Rather, I cleared all Daaku's misconception.

@Sanju baba this link will show validity of my post as if Khas were or were not martial race. I did not refer to this site though.

 @Nalapani

1)Who are khas bahuns?

2)How did one convert to dalit ?

3Rajput link.Where did that come from?

Fun facts:

1)After the last Nepal-Tibet war,J.B. Rana was so impressed by the Limbus that he sent thousands of Janai to Limbuwan and "promoted" the Limbus to Chettris.Well ...it was rejected.

2)After the annexation of Limbuwan,there was a saying "न्याय नपाए गोर्खा जानु ,खान नपाए लिम्बुवान जानु ".

P.S The kritipure army not having newars?Source plz..

I liked what Madhesi Patrakar was saying. I wish there were better debates like this one for everyone to understand than the Baral Bhahun warming up the illiterate Janajati.

 Nalapani

Thank you for the article.

Now let's debate about history.

I refuse to take modern Nepali history(Shah reign) documentation on it's face value.During Rana regime ,a "मकैको खेति " could land you in jail,so i don't believe a historian could write/document about any wrongdoing of the state and the players.Same applies to the panchayat era.

Now,most of the present day historians were educated in the 70's .This was the time when Mahendra led "nationalism" was at  all time high.One nation,one language,one culture was the mantra.

Hate to say this but in a country like ours,which was a feudal society till a few decades back,history has to be taken with a grain of salt.i will only trust a  trained historian who makes a claim backed by ample evidence.

What is your take on this?

My grandpa is not coming out of his grave to put food on my plate and smile on my face, and I highly doubt your's will too. And about the current situation, yes we need change but what people are not seeing is the change that we have already been through. Today at least in paper there is no unequality, it will take time (not even one generation most likely a decade) but it will happen in commoner's life. People of every castes are getting educated and soon or later, the better ones will end up in better posts. What I say is give all of them equal education and leave everyone on their own. And about janajati needing a reservation in any goverment posts is a bs, why should anyone have reservation anywhere. Politicians do not have any caste, they are and will find some other base to divide people and capitalise on the situation. See baahun neta is inciting limbus, prachande is inciting newars, and the list goes on. They are just playing with common people's emotion for their selfish personal gain. And even if janajati gets their state, only elites will be richer, poor will always be poor. And, I thought janajaatis were fighting for the equal rights for everyone but what the politicians are asking right now is the bigger share for this groups if they support me. Is this fair? If we really want to save the identity of all Nepalese why others are sidelined, only those communities with more money and political influence are getting states? What about other smaller janajatis? Nepal is not big enough for all separate jaatiya state so why not unite them under one nation and give the responsibility of preserving their identity to their own jaatiya organization without government help. Every jaat should be equally separated ( yep separated) from the state structure or every jaat should have equal (proportionally) reservations and opportunities whether they may be khas or janajaatis.

 Very interesting videos. I wish to learn more on the issue of Ethnic Federalism and ethnic demands. If there are more such videos and articles on the issue, please post them up. I think there should be a healty debate on this issue rather than us falling prey to fear-mongering by our politicians who are only trying to make political plays to ensure the survival of their own political careers..We may not realize it yet, but we are at an important crossroads as a nation and if these pressing issues are not settled and all these groups continue feeling cheated, we are heading towards a deadly conflict that could far surpass the Maoist civil war.

@Daaku, that was an interesting video from the Madhesi perspective. The speaker (who I'm assuming is also a journalist) does bring up some interesting points. Although I can see some biasness in his speech, I also think most of his points are valid. I think we need to have a forum for all these experts (excluding politicians) from both sides of the spectrum to hold a debate in a respectable manner. We need to hold such debates to educate the masses and to stop all the fear mongering by the political parties who are only looking to exploit them.

@Nalapani, you seem to be very interested Nepal's military history and its acheivements, however I would source my arguments rather than blindly passing off phrases as 'facts'. I am not questioning the authenticity of your sources, but I would like to see them so I could read them and draw my own conclusions. Like yourself, I am also a bit of a history buff, and your knowledge intrigues me. And I would also like to learn more about the Khas ethnic group as a whole. If you have a scholarly article/ ethnographies on this particular ethnic group, would you please post up a link? That would be greatly appreciated.

think we forgot this very scientific fact, where we came from? we all are just talking about time-line between 100-400 years, looks like we never go beyound that period.

Gokarna  ko badar are revolting to get their own rajya. Upon hearing that swambhu ko badars got riled up and are now on the trees demanding their own rajya too. Word has spread like wildfire in the city, a former representative from the pashupati badar sangh recently visited central zoo and told the badars there that they can demand their own rajya per the treaty signed with pashupati badars in Badar Sambat 1885, technically  this treaty holds no coconut water as the kera paat it was written on is nowhere to be found. Regardless central zoo badars are now preparing for war, using banana skin mine and nariwal bomb . Though small in number compared to any other badar clans around the city; they are known for their bravery and mastery in combat.

In a related news badars in baudha are being accused of being involved in genocide  by the badars of pashupati for the mass electrocution that had occured 15 badar years ago and are demanding an apology. They do not believe it was the humans  who actually put the electric wires in the first place saying that they refuse the historic documentation on it's face value as prepared by the baudha badars.

....more news to come
