You are right Phiste, but: in some stage of your life if you want to advance your career with further study with your Lamhar certificate, chances are tiny to get ahead with a good University or PhD. Some good Companies even sponsor PhD programs for it's employees, then you will find you are somewhat out of track.

Well PC30, I agree with you. But We should move according to time says. Right now Recession is hitting the nation and its good news that guys from Lamar University are getting the job in this period which is more important than thinking for future or PHD. Even people from very good universities are not getting the job even in civil engineering. And for the PHD, you have many choices. As far as I know, right now, experience is more important than the degree both for the phd and future. If you have good experience and knowledge, you will get phd from good university and for the experience you should get the job. Its a chicken and egg problem. So its your decision where you want to go! Good Luck anyways

So pc30 .... are you saying that if someone gets a batchelors degree from Lamar then it would be harder for him to get admitted in the reputed university? I dont think it makes any sense because some of my friends who graduated from nepal got accepted in some of the reputed universities!!! I mean compared to universities from nepal, Lamar should be better hoina ra?

As long as you want to work an a civil engineer in US Lamar is the best. Most of the graduates from Civil gets job.The university forces to pass FE exam which not only helps to write EI behind your name but also helps to impress employer. As long as employer gets EI, nobody wants to hire person with out EI though you are studying "BHADRAGOL" subjects at lamar.Thats the reality. From the very first day to the day of graduation civil students learn all the tactics that direct you toward job market.Academically,we learn nothing but practically we learn everything about job market which is not bad.If those who want to focus on research lamar is the worst, but for those who want to focus on job after graduation lamar is the best.I am talking about civil and donot know about other fields.
