What kind of love is this? I just watched a hindi movie called Nishabd in which a 60 years old guy falls in love with a 18 years old young lady.

wow i am getting to learn so many things from sajha these days.

lesson # 420:

Just by not listening to good hindi songs and watching hindi movies, i can make nepal a sovereign and independent nation.

hmmmm.....pretty easy, iiniit? i am gonna give it a shot. i won't play any hindi songs or watch any hindi movies from now on...let's see if my Nepal becomes fully independent :P

where's my stop watch???? :D

you can change it, Nepal means you and me and all our brothers and sisters and our parents back home.

we can definitely change the condition of the cultural dependence, yes loote by not being influenced by Indian culture, movies and music. there is no need to make fun of this, otherwise you'd be laugh at (when you won't have any identity!).

raazstone brother,
i appreciate your concern over nepal but i am afraid, your views on how to make nepal- a sovereign and independent nation is based on shallow and baseless analysis.

1) if cultural dependence is the cause of slave mentality and domination/colonization, then how did british rule india or it's sub-continents? what were their cultural ties? were there any?

2) if i chose to listen to spanish song, does it make me their slave as well? if i dance in the tune of samba, does it mean i am their slave too? don't you watch english movies? would you consider yourself a slave of american or british?

1) English people ruled over India of it's sheer might. It was during the time when sword was the weapon of might, now it's different.

2 )If you choose to listen to spanish song or english song , it doesn't hurt as much as listening to Indian song. Being colonized for centuries, Indian people have become sorta disease, they have this desire to control and rule over it's not-so-powerful neighbours.

I'd not have written against India if it was not for it's nonsense bully over nepal. And if we let this go on, we'd lose more than just our culture.

so Loote i think there is a difference in listening to spanish song and Indian song...... I apologize if i hurt your feeling.

No, I am not hurt, but yes, I am amazed...

"Being colonized for centuries, Indian people have become sorta disease, they have this desire to control and rule over it's not-so-powerful neighbours."

i may agree with what you said here, but your arguments are directing to a conclusion that if we listen to hindi songs, we will be considered as weak neighbors? if we have cultural similarities, we will have more tendency to be ruled over? can you throw some light on this? coz i don't think, i am buying your arguments!

i don't believe, cultural similarities can be a weapon for colonization or domination. matter of fact, similarities lead to kinship. agreed, indians have, time and again, shown this tendency to rule over weaker neighbors. how do we strengthen ourselves then? by being different? by shying away with the fact that we have similarities? if there is a similarity, there is--you cannot change that. you cannot run away from facts. don't take them as your weaknesses, work hard and build unto it. we may need to come up with noble ideas and work hard to materialize them-- to prove we can exist without much of indian shades. we may need to make national policies that don't stoop for india-- that's where independence is a must....not in cultural grounds.

you have raised a right point but you also seem to have missed the bigger picture, my friend!

raazstone...thanks for more constructing dialog and some positive interaction. I always believe...just putting the blame on someone without understanding your own stand never helps anyone...as there is a saying in Nepal..."Afno aang ko haathi na dekhne...arru ko aang ko kamilla pani dekhne"...we either be in Nepal or in USA or in UK or any other developed country have been developing the negative views about India without considering the reasons behind their influence in our culture and society. First of all, they are a billion population and we are about 23 million among which about 60%'s mother toung is only nepali...so if 1000 million is in your neighbour and you have only 13 million who speak Nepali...it will certainly influence your language. Secondly, India is a emerging power with high growth rate and global influence. I wouldnt be surprise if people across the globe start to learn Hindi and Chinese in next 20 years as they are doing English currently. So, guys instead of worring about it think about capitalizing on the knowledge you already have. One thing is for sure...India will Nepal try to forcefully take over Nepal...because they will never need to ...till the time we will have these brilliant political leaders who dance on the tune of Delhi...why would someone want to take the burden when they can enjoy every facility without bothering about the liablity coming with the ownership of it.

Raazstone bro, aguing with them is meaningless. They are giving priority to a foreign music and movies industry and wonder why ours is not developed and blame it on the directors.
So I ask all others here who support Indian movies how have you helped Nepali industry and if you havent then isn't helping foreign movies industry a mistake rather then focusing in our own industry.

i did not know one has to watch nepali movies to show their love and respect towards nepal. ne23pe, why do you go to US school? shouldn't you be going to a nepali school rather? that would surely help nepal to come out of it's poverty.

Yes my mom is teaching me in Nepali because I have forgoten to do so and she is ordering the books from Nepal by paying cash. Now that would help the book industry in Nepal. As far as schooling was concerned my mom was planning to send me back and already sent one of my brother back to get better education in Nepal. She decide to keep me here and one of my brother there with family.
So dont tell me why I dont go to Nepal's school.

Loote Bro read what I am saying carefully. My questions to all is why do you support foreign music or movies industry, not stooping infront of India or what not you are saying.

just because one watches foreign movies does not imply he/she has an inherent support for those nations. it's about art my friend, good work is always praised-- globally.

yes, i blame on nepali industry for not being able to draw attention from quality public. it does NOT need money to make a quality movie. one has to have noble ideas that are of original nature. if you think, if we watch nepali movies regardless of their quality, they will benefit, then you are wrong. nepali movie industry does not have people with positive mind-frame. if they spend their time and energy efficiently in making good movies, hell, most of us will watch it. just like you, i have my sympathy for them. but am sorry, am not gonna applaud mediocre to low quality art, just because it came out of a nepali. it's not about nation my friend, it's about art!

yeah nothing is wrong with watching quality art from other countries. but wouldn't it help if we nepali did support nepal's own industries? Indian people always support their group, for example there are always so many people at every events formed by them, worthwhile or not they go and support. But in nepali functions, i hardly see anyone.
just like bollywood movies, whether it bad or not people always go and see it. In the end they work hard to make it better, isn't it?

well, it's good to have supportive nature in a society. if nepali movie industry needs money, yes, i may as well go for some donation out of sheer sympathy ....but it's not the lack of adequate finance which is the only hindrance in making a quality movie. i am not gonna shed tears and lend support for an industry which has weak and negative approach towards film-making. as i said, nepali movie-makers do not have enough guts, mind-set let alone talent to create a quality work.

as long as movie-makers target their work for a particular group or class in a society, nothing positive is gonna come out of it. art should not be created for a section of people in a society, that's a negative approach....one should focus on creating a 'quality' work. class or no class, hell, everyone will love to watch such work. people in nepali movie industry should understand this, first off! few handful of movies apart, i have not seen right approach in movie-making from nepali industry yet.

When it is available in Netflix I am going to watch this movie. I like big B no matter what, he is a good actor. Well, good things should be adopted from any culture, country or background. Ignore the bad stuffs .
