Regarding nepotism in Kathmandu University, there has been number of letters published from the faculties as well as KUPA in e-kantipur (24-27 May). Similarly, there are other write-ups in Nepali languages dailies and weeklies. We, ex graduates of KU, have compiled all these and put them in the following blog; www.changeinku.blogspot.com All the graduates and ex-faculteis are welcome to give their opinion. Let us destroy nepotism in KU.

There is a reason why the discontent in KU is not seen in KUMS even though the problems in KUMS are bigger. This is because all staff in KUMS are temporary on one-year contracts. their contract is coming to end each year so they are scared of losing their jobs if they protest. KU has kept all the staff on temporary contracts even though they have been working for 3-4 years. They realized that if the staff were made permanent they would complain more. If they had done the same in all the schools of KU, there would be "no problem" as the KU leadership sees it.

There are some losers in KU who likes to defame its reputation and destroy KU. Those bunch of losers are 1. Suresh Bhakta Shrestha ( Hydrosil patient and drunkard and ek number ko khurapati) 2. Sameer Dixit ( Most unstable person having family problem for a long) 3. Sijan Baral ( Most abitious person and rastra ghati) 4. Anup Banskota( Gule and this is the person who started changeinku blog and most oppertunistic who will sell anything anywhere) 5. Surendar kafle ( bichara... coz once these above people succeed they will use him as a toilet paper) Beware of these people !!!

Pardafas, we reckoned it was Dr. Sameer Dixit who ran the changeinku blogspot not Anup Banskota - suppose they are in to together. We wonder if their motives are sincere or malicious. We can only speculate.

We realise that some KU teachers are as treacherous as Dr. Suresh Raj and Dr. Sitaram. It just makes us appreciate decent professors like Dr. Rana Bahadur Chhetri, Dr. Navin Thapa and others like them who are totally non-political and work hard in their subjects. Long live KU.

Guy's I recently talked with one of my friend there in KU who is currently enrolled in MS program. Well his reply is not that specific as most of the issues that has been uncovered in this thread. Nevertheless, it's depicts the current environment of the KU. I have rewrote the exact phrases from him. "There emerged a group of lecturers in KU who say its time to fight with the administrators for their right. for that they formed an organization named KU professors association. They have 8 point demands including reinstatement of a lecturer who has been expelled from the service, to increase their salary, to make staff permanent after a year etc etc. It all came after Loktantra has evolved in Nepal. KUPA le aafno maag pura gar bhanera admin lai dabab dina narabaji garna thalyo. Nikai nai charka nara haru pani lagaiyo. Democratic way ma birodh jasari garinchha , those were all tried. But admin was not ready to fulfill a single demand. Now KU non teaching staffs also got themselves along with KUPA and they formed an organization for themselves and they joined the party. Still after many talks KU administrator refused to fulfill their demand. Some of the students were so eager to form an organization for students also but it has not happened yet. Situation eti bigryo ki KUPA le yo sessiion ko suru dekhi nai napdhaune bhanera hadtal suru garyo. But after waiting for about 5 days students started to realize what this war between Admin and KUPA gonna cost them. Therefore students were agitated and they tried to force both pakchha to come to the table for talk and find the solution. KUPA executives and admin officers (VC registrar and others were closed in side KU senate hall till 11 PM from 10 am by the students. It went for 3 days. Ultimately talk between students representatives, KUPA and Admin resulted in a temporary solutions and teachers are now ready to give the lectures from tomorrow. This is all about recent crisis in KU. Now regarding Nepotism, you know only a few thing of KU central administration is transparent to all. There were some of the teachers in KU who left KU because of the unsatisfaction with KU. Some of them are expelled by KU iitself and Some have left by thier own. One of these teacher wrote abiout NEPOTISM in KU describing how THULA THALU in KU are abusing KU property. What for they are using their POWER (like Son of Dr. Sitaram has gone for Ph.D. in China and he is still receiving his salary from KU while none of the others who did their Ph.D from KU got that). Their are many reasons but to write all it requires a lot of time. Some of the AAROP are quite true and logical but some others are KAPOKALPIT andare just presented dirten KU ko CHHABI. You know what I mean. but you better go through the site of Kathmandu Post where that article was published. Sorry I dont knoe the Date."

Dr. Sameer Dixit has given an interview in his own blogspot (www.changeinku.blogspot ) which is quite a surprise and gives an insight into his motives. Dr. Sameer Dixit and Dr. Navin Thapa are probably the most notable and impressive faculty in KU - its notable to see the different ways they have handled the situation in KU. Dr. Dixit has brought KU in to disrepute by his belligerant ways where as Dr. Thapa has quitely plodded along tried to get on with all types of people in KU. We do not know which one has chosen the correct way. Only the future will tell.

It is a shame KUPA and KU leaders have all claimed they have won but the reality is that the negative publicity has meant they have all lost.

Samir Dixit's Interview looks like the conversation between two drunkards. What a low level question and answer is there, Suresh Raj Sharma used his brother to physically abuse Kafle. Suresh Raj May be corrupted, he may want to be dectator, he may be nepotistic, but he will never use such third degree actions. Donlt post such blogs, that's C grade drunkard talks. Suresh Raj is scared of being Samir's dad VC of KU, and defaming him.......???? cmon guys, KU is respctable academic institution that produces very high skilled professionals, attack Suresh raj by pointing out his real misdeeds and misleads. He has many other drawbacks to get imroved. Don't fight him to fulfil your personal desires, nobody will listen to your personal attacks. Only common agenda that can imrove quality of KU will be listened by people ( at least students and Alumni). And also supporter of VCs, please don't take it as your personal issue..........

I read Dr Dixit's interview, it looks like some people brain washed him. May be that GULE, he is good at that. :) Well, i agree there is some nepotism in KU and also its everywhere, when i say everywhere, it really means everywhere, even in US, for instance, you can hire someone you know in the company you work that is called Employee Referal Program, so i am not amazed with whats happening in KU. Those blogger or i would say the owner of blogger should realize, if he really think, http://changeinku.blogspot.com/ is a BLOG site then there shoudl not be any moderation. Well i tried to post a comment on Dr. Dixit's interview and it said, "YOUR POST IS SAVE, IT WILL BE PUBLISHED ONCE OWNER APPROVES IT" now is not that a kind of nepotism, allowing post that are in there favor and delete that disagrees with what the author said. Be practical blog's owner, who ever it may be whether its Dr Dixit or GULE. be fair be practical, My only requests to KU's faculty, student and staff, please keep KU out of Nepal's politics, it was the only institution in Nepal (well i would say when i was in KU) that had no effects of Nepal's POLITICAL development. -- Jai Nepal

Hi guys! BIY and DcKeTa are right....I also agree with them. We love KU and only want to florish it avoiding nepotism and curruption.....This guy dixit is just a new one....I don't think he is attached with KU emotionally. Despite he being kicked in a wrong way, he can't advocate for his father.. we can see the history of BPKIHS not certainly the best besides it had huge support from India and Nepal govenments. If we have to think for new VC, we must do it within our premices. None allian can have emotional attachment to the hills of KU.. Dr. Kafle is an exception being disqualified among inciders. If it is a only a matter of administration.. Dr. Arjun Karki, Dr. N Thapa, Dr. Panna Thapa, Dr. Chetri, Dr. shrestha (Envs), and on last Dr. Subodh should be considered. We just want to kickk...off nepotism, and make KU a democratic institute to promote thos who have quality...Let's welcome all those left KU. Cheers'

Hi, I am joining this forum after waiting for a long time and its too much and just cant wait. I had joined KU as a faculty since it was in tangal Kathmandu and aware of every development in KU. KU was not built in a day, no doubt it was initiated by Suresh raj sharma but nobady can give whole credit to Suresh and faculty and all gurdians who relied on KU deserve the credit. Suresh raj is a different perso today and should be kicked his ass and ahould be shown the door out of KU , enough is enough. If country can run without 237 year old monarch why not KU run without Suresh Raj who has now even forgot to behave with teachers,

KU has benefitted from diligent staff like Dr. Rana Bahadur Chhetri, who have given their priority to the students rather than plotting for their self-interests. We hope he prospers in the new KU.
