Watching Deepak Chopra on Night line, made me question myself, did god create me or I created god?
Being a student of Evolutionary theory, did I create god for my own selfishness, wanted to create gods and devils so that I can manupulate my reasoning? am I that weak that I create fictitious characters to reason myself for my daily activities? Did my concept go so far that it created religions and wars and made myself the devil? while always trying to be god?
God was created by men 2-3000 years ago. People just believe that without question and thats the only reason why the term we know as 'God' still exists.
We could 'create' a new god and for all we know 3000 years later people would be worshiping 'God' blindly. Offcourse the creation of God is always a turbulent period. Its hard to change people's opinion, but its been done in the past and can be done now.
When you're creating 'God' the important thing to keep in mind, is that the present does not matter as much as the future (generations down the line where all your opposers will be dead)
The answer is in a locked box, inside your mind. If you are really passionate to know, then meditation is the key to unlock this box and find it yourself.
YOUR MOMMY AND DADDY CREATED YOU. YOU WOULD NOT HAVE EXISTED IF THEY DID NOT PROCREATE. IF SOMEBODY DID NOT TELL YOU WHAT GOD IS(as you know like hindu, christian, muslim, buddhist, or tribal) YOU WOULD HAVE NEVER KNOWN. DID NOMADIC CAVEMEN KNOW VISHNU, BUDDHA, CHRIST, MUHAMMED, MOSES ? NOPE I DUN THINK SO.
Why the rage S..Cofee? I am being nice with you, trust me on this. Poon-Hill to answer your question, I am surprised to the fact that humans were all over the world even before they could develop communication, express feelings. How come aborigins in the Australian Islands and Mayans in other part of world all have the same feeling? Is it a part of evolution or is it written in our genes? Do animals have the same? Sorry I tried to answer your question, instead landed up with a bunch of questions of my own. just curious
Well i could go on and on here. I finished reading this book a month ago which i forgot its title, something "Spirutality in Modern World", which kinda binds the approach of religions and science, and even between religions and all. Its starts from the Big Bang, energy circulation in universe and ends to a philosophy of human life (Sarthak Jivan). I thought this was the best possible answer i got till now, being a religious person and a student of science and engineering myself. I could give you info. of this book in detail if you really want to read. Mean while enjoy a video of Alex Grey, a visonary artist.
All this wars and fights, I am right and you are wrong, In the end all this hoopla will end with the end of your life. But then again some believe rebirth is inevitable unless you get nirvana, some believe in everlasting life and some believe there will be wines flowing and virgins waiting for them and there are some who just beg to differ.
"God" is a philosophical concept that has eternally existed in everyone's mind, mostly as a coping mechanism in times of need. Not much different from similar concepts like "hope", "love" "belief" etc etc. Probably came into popular being as a way for the few enlightened ones to explain to the common person why certain things are the way they are. God is a psychological necessity. It is way for the human psyche to keep insanity in check. Without the concept of God, how else would a human being exlpain away all the mysteries of life, and death, and why the universe is, and why am I. God is a good concept and it is neither evil, nor devine.
Religion, on the other hand, is purely man-made. It has hijacked the concept of God and has been using it to gain control over people's minds. If I may use an analogy here, when a child does not behave in a way a parent wants them to, and the parent knows there's no way he can explain to the child what a "negative consequence" is, the parent tends to personify "consequence" into something the child understands...and fears - "if keep doing that, boogeyman (haungooji) will get you". This is exactly what most religion does. Religion makes a boogey man out of "God". Any person that can think for themselves can easily see through this manipulation. Unfortunately, many people are too distressed, distracted or down-and-out to think for themslves, and that's what religion takes advantage of.
Deepak Chopra has a book titled “How To Know God”. After reading a few chapters, I concluded that the honest title would have been “How To Invent God”.
Anyway, Chopra is of the opinion that humans are hardwired to know God. As you might guess, I think that what he actually meant is that human mind is hardwired to ‘invent’ God.
And I think it is true.
God in a form of a powerful (not necessarily omnipotent) invisible person who can be your safety-net is very easy to follow how it could be hardwired in human.
So yes, Bathroom Guruji, even if nobody tells a child about God ever, this child, after encountering too many fears and insecurities than he/she can handle, at one point or another of his/her life, is going to imagine and most likely (unless somebody interferes) start to hope/believe in an invisible and powerful person who is also pleasable and can provide you with security. And there will be a distinct name for it which can be translated into the word ‘God’.

hmmm....exactly my thoughts too. I must read this book!
There is something out there which cannot be scientifically or logically explained, but that does not mean it is GOD as we know it. All of organised Religion is man made. The truth is out there, and may the force be with you to help find it Nepe.
No, No, Bathroom, I am myself not in the quest. My point was limited to speculate how the primitive notion of God might arise naturally in an ever safety seeking natural man’s mind.
As for the modern notions of God and the organized religions, I probably share your caution and skepticism.
However, I tend to believe that a limited and harmless space for religion would be beneficial to the society. Just a pragmatic contemplation, it has nothing to do with faith per se.
I have slightly elaborated my view on the issue of faith here:
I have talked about uneradicability religion/faith, a compartmentalization of logic and faith as a means for them to co-exist peacefully and a point for letting the vast insecure and helpless humanity it’s cheap peace of mind and security.
Until our society advances and prospers enough to provide every man all the security and answers, it does not make sense to close down the religion. Kind of my defense for religion. But I totally agree that religion should accept thy limit.
