Maoists are dropping off letters at houses in Kathmandu saying that 10-15 maoists cadres are coming to live in each house (forcefully). The house owners will have to cook and feed them too. What happened to democracy if they were going to force themselves on us !!!

Mikebibby this is not a joke. I don't think you'll be laughing when you hear this is happening in your house in Nepal. It is high time for citizens of Ktm to unite and get rid of these extorting maoists. If any maoists forces to stay in your house and demands food and shelter, make sure to feed them poison and kill all of those maofockkers.

So don't act smart here in sajha

Mike bibby, listen if you blame the people from the valley for the atrocities committed by the maoist in the remote parts of the country then you need to have your brain checked up. If anyone is to blame, it's the politicians and not the people of the valley.

If people of the valley are more educated than the people from remote places, it's because of their physical proximity to the capital and the services available in the capital.

Are you stupid? What can a person from the valley do when maoists commit crimes outside of their physical domain?

Well, right now things are hapening in the capital and the people from the valley need to do something, instead of sitting duck like you and blaming each other instead of blaming the politicians who are the actual culprits.

Its about time we all became gundas...i'm gonna call my folks and say....dig a big grave in the backyard...so at least 100 dead bodies can fit in...from any unknown jogi babas... ( beggin maoists)....fake household maids.( lady maoists)..little kids in the street ( future maoists)....

THIS HATRED is not going to solve anything...if you are in pain...find better solutions.....one way to do that is promote law enforcement inthe country..give respect.paymore. and hire more policemen.. DEMOCRACY Is lot of repsonsibility...maoist is not partof that....

another way is to ensure the lawmaker pay for damages and more..if they can't protect the civilians.....e.g. why don't the effected people go live in Sujata Koirala's house..50-60 people..and let them know how it feels...all the m***fkks..need a good lesson out there !!!

Good thing you are changing your tone from "FYI what did you folks from valley did when maobadi did the same thing to folks from remote part of the country for almost a decade."

If that's your mentality then it's pretty stupid. Grow out of it.

This is not a good sign. They say they are going to stay for few days what if they stay longer. Even in cambodia they evacuated all the people in the cities to remote locations saying they were going to rebuild the cities and then they killed them all. There is foul play involved because they could have reserved guest houses and hotels for their cadres instead of having them seep into families.

I agree with Mike Bibby. When poor villagers were suffering, nobody spoke. And now all this BS.

Rein,

If you are being affected then you have to speak. If I was from the village then I would have spoken or tried to do somethign about it. But i'm not from the villages.

I'm from the valley and now I am speaking about it since it affects me.

It's unfortunate that the people from the villages are not educated and they could not resist the maoists. But the people from the valley should join together to resist them before they take over our houses.

Don't have a defeatist mentality. You have to think globally but you can only act locally.

I agree with Mike,
Gauma gaule ko jagga okatera baseko chha maobadi le, ward ko karya laya ma kaam garna gako chha sachib uslai lakhetera chodchan tesma kasle bolyo...mike le bhaneko jasto Police station chaina, ani tyo mooghi bhate politician haru sabai KTM ma chha, Koslai gayera bhanne. Now you guys have the police station and politician right infront of you, you stand up and let them hear you.

Ratobhale hope you solve this crisis for good

Peace

Reminds me of this:

When they came and took the guy from down the street, nobody stood up for him.

When they came and took my neighbors, I did not stand up for them.

Now that they are coming to take me, there's nobody to stand up for me.

Guys nothing is going to happen with your defeatist attitude. In fact that is the reason Nepal is where it is right now.

You know why noone could stand up in the villages? That's because they don't have a mode of communication to unite against the Maoists.

In the city, it's different, there are many modes of communications that we can use to educate ourselves and to fight against the maoists. We can get our message across to many people and we can unite against the maoist extortions. But time is of essence and we need to act fast.

If you don't have anything positive to say then just shut the fock up. I had enuff of this defeatist loser mentality going around saying blah blah you didn't do anything in the villages. Get real and let's do something when we can.

I agree with Mike even though I'm from valley.
More than 90% of MP's are elected from outside the valley but they all stay in valley. When lot's of thing happened to villages none of the valley resident tried to help those poor villagers.
Now when something happens in valley, they need moral or help from outside the valley. What a parasite.

Human rights groups in Nepal have condemned Maoist rebels over reports of intimidation of people in Kathmandu ahead of a huge public rally on Friday.

It follows reports that locals had been threatened into giving shelter and food to thousands of rally participants - allegations denied by rebel leaders.

The reports come as the Maoists and the government hold talks to end 10 years of civil war.

Both sides are talking about a major breakthrough.

'Dire consequences'

The Maoists plan to project the rally as a show of strength, at which the rebel leader, Prachanda, is to make his first public address in 25 years.
Groups of rebels have been seen making house-to-house visits asking the residents to feed and shelter the participants in the rally.

The participants are expected to arrive in Kathmandu by Thursday. The rebels say they plan to bring half a million people from across the country to attend the event in the capital.

Each household has reportedly been asked to give shelter to at least 10 people and feed another three until the rally is over.

The residents have accused the rebels of threatening them with dire consequences if they do not oblige.

A rebel leader in charge of the Kathmandu Valley area denied the allegations.
Ananta, as he is known, told the BBC that Maoist cadres had been instructed not to use coercion.

He said that residents had only been requested, rather than obliged, to provide food and shelter.

Despite the denial, human rights groups including the independent National Human Rights Commission, members of parliament and diplomatic missions have all voiced criticism.

In a statement, the US embassy said that the Nepali staff at the embassy, and even US citizens, had been the targets of Maoist demands.

About 13,000 people have died in the rebels' struggle for a communist state.

Enuff defeatist mentality. One reason why nepal will never progress is because of this attitude. We need to be forward thinking and figure out what we can do NOW? Not brood over what could not be done or what was not possible to do.

What do you expect? Do you expect the people from the valley to go marching into the villages to save them from the maoists? The people from the valley have to earn their daily bread. I am not undermining the atrocities faced by the villagers but the people from the valley could not possibly have dont anything about it.

But now that the atrocities are coming to their doorstep, it's time for them to resist. The people from the valley don't need support from outside the valley. All I'm saying is they need to unite and form plans to resist these maofockers.
