It is very frustrating when one goes to nepalnews and reads a news. there isn't a day when atleast 5 nepalis are not dead, be it army or maoist. There isn't a day Maoist look stupid and stupid and stupider everyday. I would like to know one thing, why do Nepali Maoist break and bomb nepali infrastrucure everyday. They bomb offices and goverment building to protest against the goverment, but what has electricity,water, telephone, hospitals and ambulances done to them so far but help these HICKs in the hills. Why do they not kill the corrupt officials or corrupt political leaders (how come Girija chor is still moving freely... and since when did he become untouchable, he can't even be frisked for security reason at the airport.. he isn't the PM of nepal at this moment. if I was the moaist he would be my first target) but NOOOOOOOO...... Nepali maoist are stupid.. they go and kill a teacher in the remotest part of nepal where a lone teacher is trying to bring education to the population so that they dont' lag behind the city people. I agree to some of the points raised here but my reasons for agreeing could be different.

I strongly believe that the near and dear ones of the maoist top brass should be captured and tortured. I fully understand that the Maosits' near and dear ones could be normal and law-abiding citizens like ourselves, but the government could indirectly put pressure on the thugs this way to surrender or take a peaceful route.

Though I will have the deepest sympathies for the innocent (possibly) family members of the Maoist top leaders, I think this is a tough decision the government has to make sooner or later in the interest of other affected Nepalese including those who call themselves maoists.

However, I think that this kind of tough but fully warranted meausre will not be taken by the government, not in the nearfuture at least, because then the top leaders could themselves be the target of a fatal attack. So, basically this so-called people's war (of course w/o peoples' support) is noththing but "Goru ko judai baccha ko michai".

And I extend my sincere apologies to the family members of Maoist leaders. I have nothign personal against you guys but we dont have much choice here, do we? Maybe you are as innocemtn and as peace loving as I am, but if your capture and torture coupled with some other factors, could be in the interest of the 25+ million people, we have a very tough decision to take here. Nothign personal against you though, just being practical.

One of the most dreaded word in Nepal these days is "BEPATTA" or "disappearance." People are being disappeared right here in Kathmandu, and mostly by the armed forces. Now it is not known how many of those "disappeared" are Maoists, but nonetheless, it is quite disconcerting.

Government's armed forces will have to always stick to the higher road, no matter what the consequence. Sticking to the higher road gives it the legitimacy. Should it stray from that road, then it becomes nothing but just another "dogs of war."

Violence is evil. If we deal violence in answer to violence, there will just be more violence. All sides will lose and evil will reign rampant. We are already seeing the beginning of this in our society. We can't let violence prosper in our land of Buddha.

The friends and family of known Maoist Leaders should be kept under surveillance, perhaps even investigated, but should NOT be unlawfully detained and definitely NOT tortured. That would not only amount to gross human rights violation but also bury us as a nation into the depth of shame and immorality.
