Members of Tamu Samaaj of Boston need to understand that there are lots of other Nepalese in Boston besides the ones work in Indian Restaurants on Weekends. That is the main reason everytime Tamu Samaaj organize something, they organize on MONDAYS or WEDNESDAYS so that people who work in Indain Restaurants on weekends can attend. What about other peope who work on weekdays ? They need to schedule events on weekends once in a while for a change. Ati nai bhayo....

Well !!! Tamu Samaj has been trying their best to make it for everyone whereas on other hand they can not make everybody happy...Beat them by organizing a better Night or just join them. If you just put a comments then it's no worth..... - Tamu

Yo Mora haru (that includes you Nattu) pani ke nachahine kura gari rakhya ! Nattu, I have a suspicion that you are Damnodar. Here are some of my thoughts why they are not biased. 1. The porgram was intended for those who could attend on that day. There have been great turnouts on week day events. You should feel lucky that you had been invited. 2. Why would they take a great financial risk by organizing on that day, if they assumed the turn over will be low? 3. What would you answer if they accused of the same thing for the past events when GBNC used to organize programs on the weekends ? Were not they alliniated then? 4. Every body have their own style and its theirs. 5. The representative organization GBNC did not organize the program and when Tamu Samaj is the sole organizer, they have the discretion for their acts and the interest of their members. 6. Its not an isolated incident. You see these kind of things in every other Nepali community and will continue to happen as I see them as a process of evolution. One thing I do find funny is now a days no one talks about the events day after whether good or bad or mediocre. I dont want to derive any conclusions though. More later...

The program was a blast. It's a shame that not too many people could attend the program. I was expecting a far larger crowd. The singers were great and the songs were all awesome. They sang on live music which is 1000 times better than on the tracks. Some thoughts............... 1. Why were the event info not sent out through the GBNC and other mailing lists? Organizers should stop assuming that everyone checks Sajha. There were lot of people who didn't know about the event. 2. If the program has to be organized on Mondays/holiday, why not start the program early so that it won;t be difficult for people to get up early next morning for work. 3. Is it just Boston or everywhere that there is never a middle line ine organizing events. When are the programs organized at different cities? Weekdays? Weekends? 4. Does anyone drink more than Nepalese?

Charanke (kasto garo naam ho) I indeed receive one email from Surya Thapa on behalf of Tamu Samaj for the invitation, which was not enough to remind all the people. May be the Tamu Samaj has their own email list and they assumed that population was enough to support the program without financial adversities. We indeed need to commend the efforts put by the organizers even though I could not attend, chahera pani. Je Hos.

The question we should be asking is why wasn't GBNC involved in this event... not why Tamu samaj didn't use GBNC database for spamail. DOESN"T GBNC CONSIDER TAMU SAMAJ PART OF NEPALI COMMUNITY ? the poeple in GBNC are just sitting on their asses doing nothing. In other worrds they just want the KURSI of their tittles to say they were THE PRESIDENT ...PHALNA ...AND DHISKA. When it comes to work ..I guess they'd rather pass...Even thought they have all the sound equipment.

Bathroom coffee, My question is, "Why should GBNC get involved in each and every activity?" As long as there are programs and events organized for the sake of community, its always fine. Whether its GBNC or Tamu SAmaj or Limbuwan Samaj or Newar Samaj, they all are secondary. If they did only fo Tamus, then its a problem.

Shirish why don't you just say that GBNC did not want to be bothered ? Its not like they are soo busy that they could not accomodate this event. Why is GBNC there ? To help ourcommunity right ? Shirish you are questioning the very foundation upon which GBNC was formed. Why did GBNC buy all the sound equipment(they spent all that $$ in buying that equipment so that tamu samaj had to go rent them) ? To skip events like this ? C'mon Shirish get real here !!

Well Bathroom coffee Oh I did not know the Tamu Samaj rented the equipments. Thanks for the info. But why on earth, Tamu Samaj went and rented? Did the GBNC refuse to let them use the instruments? Or, TAmu SAmaj did not bother asking? Or, Since TAmu SAmaj had a profit motif and they did not want to share any with the GBNC? GBNC alone can not and SHOULD NOT handle all these extra events. After all they are volunteers and have their life too. As long as they do some social events like Dashain and New Year, that should be fine. And they have been doing so. On top of that, GBNC officials have stiff neck too. When I proposed to have a joined BBQ for some social event, the President flatly refused for no valid reasons. Thats was fine with me because they might want to have sole credit and avoid criticism like yours for not having independent participation. Sometimes, it does make me think if they work for the unity of the community or heading towards bigger voids. Like I said before they denied me for community announcement which would hardly take 30 seconds...thier logic: I did not inform them prior and they had a tight program...oh yeah! You may be right, there might be some friction between the current GBNC officios and Tamu Samaj. Just an assumption...don't derive any conclusions on my hypothesis.

Shirish, I have the same questions you are asking ... Cause every time Tamu Samaj held events GBNC has charged them rental fees for their sound equip. Like you said I have contributed to GBNC the $$$ that bought that equipment too(same goes for the Tamu Samaj members .....there were a lotta them who have participated and contributed to the NEPALI community) But for GBNC to say that they don't have to be involved is wrong. That attitide will divide the community rather than unite them. And GBNC keeps asking why they can't find more volunteers..heh heh CAUSE THE POEPLE WHO RUN GBNC ..RUN IT LIKE IT BELONG TO THEM ONLY.. NOT THE NEPALI COMMUNITY(thts just my assumption).

Bathroom coffee wrote "But for GBNC to say that they don't have to be involved is wrong." What goes inside and the deals they make are out of our (yours and mine) understanding. Its like Baburam saying, they do communicate internally with other political parties. That is natural. You did contribute to buy the instruments, that good. I did not. But to use the instuments, that cost money and if the Tamu Samaj and the Bands run any program for entertainment and WITH THE FINANCIAL OBJECTIVES (25$/ticket), whats wrong to charge minimal or nominal fee? After all, the instruments that you contributed to buy are SUBJECTED TO WEAR AND TEAR, need occaional tuning, repairs and depriciation! Hoina ta ! I wonder where do they store those pretty bulky and ugly looking stuff?

Shirish, That is the whole problem..these bastards making inside deals..keeping the public in the dark. GBNC is not their daddy'd property make inside deals. It belongs to all of us. I am fine with nominal fee for the equipment but not to our fellow Nepali community members(i don't know if they were trying to profit from the show to pay the musicians or not). Another question is whoever stores the equipment might be renting them out without the community's knowledge. I feel the organization needs to be more transparent for people to feel that they belong to THEIR own community.

Bathroom coffee You can practice your freedom of speech and keep blabbing but the situation is not going to change much. There had been previous discussions and they do not even bother to reply or answer some of the VALID concerns raised. I will remind you, they have the mandate of the nepalese, given to them. Nobody came forward to take charge when there were oppurtunities and its no time to whine. They are free to do what ever they will. Can we stop this? cause it will not yeild anything, except we are wasting our time. If you are so dissatisfied with them, just ignore them and not respond to any of their calls or boycott their programs. What can I say more? Ciao.
