University Malaise
.

-Anup Joshi

Strange things keep happening in university classes. There are thousands of students admitted at the college. But in class, you'll rarely see more than some dozens of fellows all busy buzzing with each other. And of course their face keeps changing. The guy you are introduced one day, you may not see him the whole next day or may be never thereafter in your whole life.
It happened that this raging JMC (Journalism and Mass Communication) lecturer gave some assignments for practical marks. We had to write some news and I did accomplish all the required stuffs. He got hold of my project work and signed it. Now we had to bring it at annual practical examination day and will be assigned marks.
In the meantime, I greeted some cute looking girls and tried summoning them. But as I have early mentioned, the big tragedy was that they'd all disappear sooner or later. This One pretty looking stout girl became real close to me for some couple of days. We would sit in the canteen and have cups of tea each day. She had not accomplished her JMC assignments and was curious to borrow mine so that she could get some real clues. Man! I couldn't stop myself from lending it to her. That’s what a wise man does. But from next day, alike all the college fellows, she too disappeared. I waited for her arrival with patience but it did never work.
The mobile number she gave to me was a kinda off. And I couldn't reach her by any means. Months passed and our final examination was approaching near. I was totally worried for my assignment; totally dead-drowned in the big ocean of tension.
This one day, it was more than 11 pm in the night and her phone, it finally rang. It was triumph for me all of a sudden. But Shit man! It was her brother who picked the phone. I told him that I owe his sister for this trouble making assignment. That scoundrel! He would not listen any of my justification. He directly cursed me and threatened for calling his sister at mid-night time. I was completely dead. Thereafter I couldn't dare to call that wicked girl. And for final examination I re-printed document file of this assignment stored in my computer and handed over this lousy lecturer without his signature. Man! I didn't care what he said to me. Not even a bit now.
When I contemplate about these adventurous incidents from university classes, I can’t forget to tell you story of this guy who happened to be a friend of mine. He was a kinda interested in political philosophies and contemporary literature. Though he didn't give a damn to university education, he used to bring some real literary book and I could easily borrow them. This made us real friend. Alike most of the guys, this guy also used to summon cute girls and spend hours with them. In those cold days of winter he was a kinda stuck into this beautiful red girl, whom I too gazed sometimes. But when the guy shared me that he has a real crush for her, I formally stopped approaching her.
Now, this guy rarely participated in our tea-talks. For he was busy summoning that beautiful girl. He had her phone number and even called her frequently at night. But I really don’t think this girl borrowed any real books from this guy for reading.
Man! The next thing about this university is that there are always holidays and vacations. In this one month winter vacation, I went village to visit my parents. I had real nice days there. No phonies, no friends. Just old parents with whom you rarely chat and the total solitude.
After I returned this noisy city, this book-lender guy visited me and gave some other real books. I thanked him. He said that he last called that beautiful girl and proposed her. But she a kinda refused him. I noticed his face, but there wasn't a trace of gloom. Some old guy had filled his whole mind with this notion that girls take some real long time to accept a guy coz if she does shortly, her character is marked to be loose.
“Though she found difficult accepting my love, she treated me real nice”, uttered this optimistic guy.
We were constantly attending this disgusting campus, but that beautiful girl was seen nowhere. She disappeared about a month even after college was reopened and this guy couldn’t reach her by any means. The only way, her mobile phone, was a kinda off the whole day. This girl rarely operated her facebook account, so his messages were never ever replied. Man! These Love stuffs really drive you crazy. All this guy could do was stare her profile-picture and lament the whole time.
And when this girl attend college after months, as usual dressed in fully red dresses, she looked real nice. This guy was also real happy and greeted her forgetting all the longings. Thereafter they went somewhere secret from rest of the guys and spent together some real hours skipping all the boring lectures. When I was having tea-talks with some other guys the same day, this guy came towards me with bewildered face. We started constantly flattering him for his love triumph. But man! It killed me when he said with total seriousness that he had had some different fate in his love-story. And he confessed everything with us. When he asked where she was for the whole two months, this beautiful girl directly told him that she has married a guy during those real days. And the next day she uploaded her honeymoon pictures with her lousy groom in facebook. This book-lender guy, a friend of mine, was in total shock. Totally dumb and deaf drowned in big-cold Ocean of love.
When met recently in a tea-shop, this book-lender guy quoted with total ease one ancient tragic guy who said that those who are betrayed in love become real philosopher later in life. And then, I couldn't stop myself from congratulating him.
