REPUBLICA

KATHMANDU, Jan 6: A pressure-cooker bomb went off at New Road Pipalbot on Friday afternoon. No one was injured in the blast which could be heard 100 meters away, informed DSP Dhiraj Pratap Singh of Metropolitan Police Circle Kathmandu.

The "pressure cooker bomb" which was wrapped in a blue plastic bag detonated at 3:30 pm, Singh said.

Police have found two books entitled ´Parda Bhitra ko Rahasya´ written by Ram Prasad Mainali, the chief of an outfit called Nepal Defense Army (NDA), and the group´s leaflet from the blast site.

NDA, a little-known Hindu fundamentalist group, hasn´t claimed responsibility for the blast.

Mainali is currently serving a jail term at Dillibazar prison.

The same group had detonated a bomb outside the office of United Mission to Nepal, Thapathali on November 22.
