real vilian is you. you left your desperate country in the hand of some illiterate politicians and is enjoying here the sophistication that other  struggled to get. you should be struggling back home to make your country like US or UK. even these countries had their dark days, you know how did their country rose from dark? their citizen didnt have anywhere to go- no countries like US did existed then. so they struggled and made their country instead like you didnt leave in the hand of illiterate & corrupted politicians. there were there to make sure that their politician did the right thing
so get back to nepal and help your country build

Hi eternalsunshine,

I would take your comment as a minimum responsibility of each and every citizen towards driving the nation towards the new dawn.
I started this thread because I could sense the big flaw in the leadership in the national as well as lower level politics and I named some of them irrespective of their political believes. However I also believe that the leaders that I have named above had and they still have the capacity to safely pull the country out of the current problem, if they really want to.

Since you said that I left the country and now I am enjoying the sofistication, I find you on the same ground. Don't you see yourself as a villain?

fun_guy,

There is no "Head" of villian in Nepali politics.  No single person or even all of the names you've brought forward combined could have caused/is causing Nepal to be in its current state. These people are mere results of the "Khaobadi" system that has been been going on for ages. The "SYSTEM" is the main villian and "Corruption" is the medium. There is corruption everywhere, small offices, school, ministries, you name a place and it's infested with corrupt people.  Why is corruption so prevelant? The simple answer is the per capita income. Pople don't make enough money to be able to sustain normal life. How can a teacher making 10000 Rs per month survive in todays economy? If a teacher makes so less, imagine how much a gatekeeper makes. Inflation is at all time high but the salaries are from 1950's. So people have no choice but to be corrupted. And once you acquire a taste for making free money, there is no looking back. End results typically include 4-5 houses, 4-5 cars etc etc.

So blame the centuries old "SYETEM" if you want to. Even if you got rid of the people you've mentioned as candidate villians, the "SYSTEM" will replace them with people similar to them and the saga will continue.

P.S. If you want to clean a gutter, you are going to have to step into it. Or if you are one of the wealthy/influential ones, you could try vacuuming it clean. Either way there is a price to pay. The question is are you ready to get dirty/see your bank balance decline??

Gajab cha,

Since you talked about corruption, I don't believe the poor to be blamed for it. The poor never had access to the point of corruption and also they are paying the price for the corruption others did. Also, the corruption starts at the top and it influences the lower level not to mention that the poor don't even get the tiniest bit of it.

So, I am the firm believer that if the top level really wanted, the corruption could be reduced remarkably. Since they are crazy about enjoying the power, they don't care about the core issue. To make the matter worse, they themselves become the integral part of corruption.

However, saying this, I cannot deny the fact that, we as a people are also responsible for this corruption. We elect the same people even if we know that they are corrupt.

I don't see a straight way out of this problem for now.

Fun_guy,

Even though the next few years probably won't see a solution to this problem, I can feel the revolution in the air.  There will be more Devi Prasad Regmee.  Stay thirsty my friend.
