 h4 to f1-worked with ssn??

guys, im in h4 status rite now, but i made a mistake this summer by worki with ssn. now i want to go back to school and i fear that when i apply for a change of status to f1, they will know that i worked and disapprove me. i think i sud go back home and apply from there as change of status takes like 10 months now i see on uscis website from vermont service centre. my h4 is expiring this dec 7. guys please help me. if anyone has been under similar situation before. please share ur experience.

i entered usa as an f1 and then later on changed to h4.
