Wow! thats not a big problem for me. Don't take it otherwise. I suggest you to sell that vehicle coz its already 98 model and it might cost of more than $1500 or more to fix the transmission up. So better sell that car and buy another nicer one with some additional amount. I bet if you spend some more amount like 1500 or more addition you can get the better conditioned vehicle. Don't try to stick with the Honda Accord all the time. Make some changed you will have better idea also:)

Its best to sale ASAP...If you dont try to flush the transmission fluid...honda's transmission should be good ,they only need transmission fluid change once in a long while...depeding on how your car is performing....also if you get transimission from junk yard..you can repair it under $1000..its a risk but will run

A car transmission problem is very complicated so it could
just need a little adjustment around the valves of your tranny or you might have to get a rebuilt
tranny. Is your car rpm go above 4 if it does then first thing to check is
under your car like muffler to check if it have holes on the surface or maybe all the belts around pulley. If you know
for sure it is your tranny then it is better to look for rebuilt one for Honda
on internet or just call and see if your local junk yards have it. Good luck.

Thanks friends for the suggestion.
I tried to sell it and the seller ( mechanic) said i cant get more than $2000. I thought may be I will go for junk transmission rather than selling him at 2K.
anyway thanks you all guys for posting suggestions.

Dude when you say transmission problem what exactly are you referring to?? Transmisson problem could be anything from clogged tranny oil filter, to old dirty tranny oil which would drastically change the acceleration of the vehicle,,and would not cost more than 50 to 80 bucks to get taken care of,,And at the same time transmission problem could also mean big stuffs like worn out torque converter or problem with band brakes which would mean that you will have to replace the junk and would cost almost as much as getting an ok car..First of all you have figure out whether it is big problem or small one,,,If you post what kind of symptoms of problem have been noticed,,it makes more sense than telling transmission problem,, Now dont say something like ,,the tranny fell off from your car,,,
Well if you want to make it sound like a big problem,,tranny is a part of your car,,or in other words your car has problem,,,so junk it,,you cannot even sell it dude,,
It suks that hypes rule so much,,making things sound big,,

That is the difference between automatic and standard. My dude has 1994 accord with 238K miles. He says it is still running like a stallion.
Figure it out what is the problem; you may need to pay little money to dealer to get the exact answer. Then decide what to do, labor cost is very high and you may end up bad choice or it may be good one. You know the car and even the shell is good, some one will go replacing the transmission. Get idea but you are the one to decide.

Thanks Gwachaquarian for your suggestion.
Problem with transmission is that gear does not shift from second to third ( automatic) and accelerator only makes noise. and somethimes while shifting gear, gives a jerk even when stopped.
Thats the major problem. I belive you know much more about it and you gonna advice me.
Thanks and have a nice weeked

it sounds like you PCM (powertrain control module) is screwing up the gear shift pattern. Electronic stuff do get screwed up without any warning (i think PCM are not very costly to replace and one from some salvage car would work just as perfectly as a new one) I guess running a diagnostic (done for free over in auto parts stores) should tell you whether your PCM has registered any error code in there.Another thing is that make sure that your car does not have overdrive unit (i guess hondas dont have it), as failure to run in overdrive mode results in high engine rpm and lower transmission ratio..
But yeah the try changning transmission oil and filter as the first step..and see if the performance changes,,
Good luck bro

Since you said that it gives jerk while stopped,,it could be the problem with engine not able to produce enough torque or run at adequate speed..which happens for various reasons,, If your car feels shaky while stopped on D, then make sure your air filter is good...ignition system is ok,,and if it did not work then the next thing would be to look at the mass flow sensors to make sure that they are clean,,all of them work together to keep the engine running at a company defined speed to meet the required torque output. If anything causes obstruction in air intake flow or air flow sensor could not sense the air flow then the whole engine speed control process gets screwed up..Another thing to look at would be the EGR valve which keep the engine speed under control and emissions low at idle conditions
