Indians encroaching Nepali land yet again

The Indian side has yet again encroached more than 1200 bighas of Nepali territory in Susta of bordering Nawalparasi district, Kantipur daily reported Saturday.

Quoting locals the daily said that encroachment was backed by India’s Seema Surakshya Bal (SSB). The encroachers were led by SSB chief in Balmikipur, B.R. Barot.

The SSB personnel and residents of Rampur village in India chased away Nepali villagers from Susta areas. Local police authorities haven’t shown concern over the issue despite the villagers informing them about their grievances.

Tek Narayan Upadhya, former VDC chairman of Susta, said the Indians chased the Nepali settlers away claiming that their land registration certificates were forged.

Some months back, district level authorities from both the sides had reached an agreement not to encroach land on either side.
