hey Guys ..

do u know the history of Sikkim .. if not read it ..

In 1947, a popular vote rejected Sikkim's joining the Indian Union and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru agreed to a special protectorate status for Sikkim. Sikkim was to be a suzerainty of India, in which India controlled its external affairs, defence, diplomacy and communication. A state council was established in 1955 to allow for constitutional government for the Chogyal. Meanwhile trouble was brewing in the state after the Sikkim National Congress demanded fresh elections and greater representation for the Nepalese. In 1973, riots in front of the palace led to a formal request for protection from India. The chogyal was proving to be extremely unpopular with the people. In 1975, the Kazi (Prime Minister) appealed to the Indian Parliament for representation and change of Sikkim's status to a state of India. In April, the Indian Army moved into Sikkim, seizing the city of Gangtok, disarming the Palace Guards. A referendum was held in which 97.5% of the people voted to join the Indian Union. A few weeks later on May 16, 1975, Sikkim officially became the 22nd state of the Indian Union, and the monarchy was abolished.[5][7] In 2000, in a major embarrassment for China, the seventeenth Karmapa Urgyen Trinley Dorje, who had been proclaimed a Lama by China, made a dramatic escape from Tibet to the Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim. Chinese officials were in a quandary on this issue as any protests to India on the issue would mean an explicit endorsement of India's governance of Sikkim, which the Chinese still regarded as an independent state occupied by India. China eventually recognised Sikkim as an Indian state in 2003, which led to a thaw in Sino-Indian relations. In return, India announced its official recognition of Tibet as an integrated part of China. As part of a significant pact between India and China signed by the prime ministers of the two countries, Manmohan Singh and Wen Jiabao, China released an official map clearly showing Sikkim as part of the Republic of India.[8] On July 6, 2006 the Himalayan pass of Nathula was opened to cross-border trade, a further evidence of improving sentiment over the region.[9]

My god !!!

And Manipur !!!

here is the history :

Second World War, Manipur was the scene of many fierce battles between the Japanese and Allied forces in the so-called Burma Campaign. The Japanese swept over East Asia and came up to Manipur. They and factions of Indian National Army under command of Subhas Chandra Bose were beaten back by the Allies before they could enter Imphal, proving to be one of the turning points of the War (Central Front 1943/44).

There are two cemeteries maintained by the British War Graves Commission in Manipur, which are the final resting places of several Indian and allied soldiers who died here.

On August 28,1947, with British Parliament's repeal of British Paramountcy, in preparation for Indian independence, Manipur became an independent kingdom once again but not for long.

The King, Maharaja Budhachandra, began a process of democratization of the state, enacting the Manipur Constitution Act, 1947, which established a democratic form of government with the Maharaja as the Executive Head and an elected legislature.

In 1949, the King Budhachandra was invited to Shillong, the capital of the Indian province of Assam, where, after an intense negotiations, he was convinced to sign an agreement for annexation of the kingdom into India (Arunkumar 2005). The King had already signed a Standstill Agreement with the Indian Dominion in 1947; the Standstill Agreement froze the status quo, i.e., the Indian Union as the de facto Paramount Power over and above the King.

Once Manipur became part of the Indian Union, India dissolved the State's Constitution Assembly in October, 1949, and made it into a part C state. Later on it was further degraded to the status of a union territory from 1956 onwards.

In 1972, Manipur was elevated to the status of a state.

Beware of Prachanda ,

He is the one who has been made an Indian stooge to pressurize the seven party alliance to proclaim Nepal a Republic before going to the people in the constituent assembly election to ask them for their opinion. What can be the better option than the people deciding themselves the fate of Nepalese Monarchy and many other pending political issues of centuries? Why the Maoists are made to demand this in this critical moment instead of going headlong into the election process to decide on the issues?
Is not it the vested and greedy interest of India to derail the Nepalese peace process ? This time it is the time the Maoists are being carried on the shoulder of RAW to derail and dismantle the Nepalese peace process thus the future of Nepali nationhood.

It was Lehdup Dorjee who first became a revolutionary messiah and fought against the monarchy in Sikkim but later it was this messiah that helped India annex Sikkim within its territory. So people who apparently look like the most radical and vocal opponents later turn out to be the lynchpins to surrender the patriotic cause being lured into degenerative sycophancy in history books . So ...........think man,

ijukchhe claims India is searching for 'Lhendup Dorje' in Nepal

A senior communist leader has accused India of attempting to do a 'Sikkim' on Nepal. Talking to Nepal FM on Tuesday morning, Bijukchhe also reiterated his oft-repeated claim that the 12-point deal was New Delhi's baby.

Narayan Man Bijukchhe (File Photo)

"India is searching for Lhendup Dorje here. They don't care if that Dorje is wearing red or white or black cloth. They are looking for appropriate character," claimed Narayan Man Bijukchhe, president of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP). The NWPP is a constituent of the eight-party alliance but it is not in the government.

In 1975, the tiny Himalayan nation of Sikkim was merged into India and Dorje, who was the leader of Sikkim National Congress, had acted to facilitate the merger.

On the issue of Maoist threat to quit the government and launch the agitation, Bijukchhe said that there is no point in compelling them to remain in the government if they don't want to. "Let them walk out of the government. Let them launch agitation. It would be good if they raise people's issues in the agitation. Otherwise, at present, there is not even an opposition to this government," Bijukchhe.

He went on to ask the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), too, to quit the government. "They have a good excuse. They can say that they quit the government since the Terai problem could not be resolved."

"It is meaningless to stick to the government, claim to be communists and then do nothing to resolve country's problems," Bijukchhe said. nepalnews.com sd Sep 18 07

Eklavya bro,

dont blame Prachanda ... he was on the gorvernment to make Nepal a republic country . if all are committed to the republic .. then why not to declare republic ..

Parliament decalred Nepal as a secular country ... is not that a huge decision ? they changed the national anthem .. without asking neplease people ..

why can't the make the nepal republic ... CA election is not like regular election .. the two key point are the basis of new Nepal ..

Maoiist is asking for these points .. coz .. they need assurance .. they left the jungle .. for this and if other parties want to play with this .. they wont let it happen ..

Use ur brain bro .. dont always listen to a single comment ..

Aalu Jasto....who is the true indian traitor only time will tell. i beleive that time will come sooner than later.

but here is a simple equation:

maoists = gun power
gun source = india (unless you truely beleive some 3000 looted from the army were enough)
so who controls maoists == i'll let you figure that out

but anyways i don't think any of us here have any doubts on true intention of india. may be expect all political parties excluding NWPP.

i have said it all along, though becoming the next sikkim is probable, becoming the next bhutan is a real possibility....and may be if these are the only two options we are left with, bhutan might not sound all that bad. i mean unofficially we are already acting like bhutan by catering our foreign and military policy per india's blessing. so mind as well make this deal official so that the poor and hard working nepalis can move and and go about their lives. enough with this bull crap of everday strike, killings and terror. but hey this is probably the exact kind of sentiment india is counting on when they will offer up some sort of referendum to the nepali people down the road with the choice of putting an stop to this dog fight between so called political forces OR becoming a part of peaceful sovereign territory within india. and if this kind of crap continues much longer, i wouldn't be surprised if nepali people pick india over these a-holes.

one last food for thought to leave you all with....if above scenario doesn't happen don't worry...india has a backup plan as well a.k.a. Tarai Conflict

these are indeed sad times in the history of our glorious nation. may lord Pashupati Nath bless us all

I think the old leaders ..esp Girija and his gang are scared of bringing 'republican' and proportional representation in the country.
They know their existence would be in danger once they bring in republican and the proportional representation.( main agenda for 'New Nepal')

He would rather stick to some form of 'Ceremonial king' and some form of indian inteference. That is best seved by Girija's team
