Hi Evevrybody,
This might be a naive idea but I am planning to go back to Nepal after this fall sem and trying to creat a new Nepal.I have been in and out of Nepal most of my life and hear people (including myself) cribbing about it.You ask anyone ,they say they want peace and prosperity in Nepal.Everybody needs education, clean water, electricity, good healthcare etc and we blame government and king and everybody else apart from ourself for these problems.
Why do we need peacecorps to teach English in Nepal? Can's we do that? Can't we be volunteers ourselves? How many days or hours we volunteer in Nepal? Why are we serving foreigners and spending our talents and strengths abroad when we can utilise it back home?
Enough is enough. We have left our country to be taken care of by somebody else all the time.I think if we youth can unite and really work the whole generation then may be our children and grandchildren won't have to die in Iraq,South Korea,Saudi Arabia,Belgium,Rolpa,Accham,Solukhumbhu,Mudbhara and the list goes on.

I am planning to go back and wish everybody realise their real potential and worth and come back.I will wait for all you guys.

I commend your enthusiasm mate. I hope it won't fade as time goes by.

Few points I had shared in this forum, you might find interesting:

I stopped writing more, once I realized posters wanted to talk more about highschool fantasies(u know childish stuff) than their country. Atleast the current situation has brought the attention back to the country.

I wish i can come back but i cant do it mate. My career life is just starting and i cant sacrifice my job and pay roll which keeps my expenses rolling as well. I dont see myself adjusting there presently. I am in the industry where the nation has to be peacful and possiblites of visit. I studied hotel management mate, if i come back there , i will be lost. There is no occupancy rate in hotel more than 10 percent. Lot of company is merly doing well. I mean u cant just survive in over head cost. I think which is not even that.Well i can come back take a break for year from my job. I can start the enviromental education.i have done diploma in enviroment progamme as well. I think i will be happy to teach ppl about the importance of recycle. I can also launch combuction machine in nepal which will be easy for everyone to change there garbage in composte.

Who would not like to do volunteering, if your volunteering experience showed by your resume really counts and ensures a good job in the future. That's what happens with the Goras participating in Peace Corps.

In Nepal's context, Volunteering experience doesn't count towards your career job. For american it counts, and that's why they go for it.

Thank you for your opinions and ideas.
But instead of complaining and grumbling I would rather go back and try to do something back home.
I need your genuine support, opinions and most importantly your talent to make people realise that we too have potential.
Let us not run away from our roots but make the tree so strong that branches don't fall off.
This is all for tomorrow.
For better future.
And prosperous Nepal.

Hey Dax,

I commend your inthusiasm. I hope you are not Dax from Punkd to punk us :-). Anyhow, you gotta point but there is a something called "action" between and idea and implementing it. If you have a good plan of action then you can succeed.

My suggestions:

Evaluate your own values your strength and weaknesses and see what you can contribute and how. Be focused! Thats the key

Don't focus in changing Nepal, focus making your effect on handful of people who can be ambassadors of your ideas.

Start from these 2 points. What i see in nepal is lack of leadership. I think for people who want to contribute back, the focus should be to identify and create leaders that can bring about change.

Look at the country now. We don't see any body that represents the younger generations.

So wish you best of luck!
